Volatile is a Empyrean mission type where the Tenno recalibrate a Corpus Ship's reactor to remove its defenses and allow its destruction from Railjack armaments.

Mechanics

During initial Empyrean objectives, Tenno may optionally acquire Corpus Credentials from a Crewship Pilot. These credentials will prevent Corpus Engineers from initially spawning during the ship reactor recalibration.

After completing initial objectives and boarding the capital ship, Tenno must proceed to the ship's reactor to begin the recalibration process. The reactor will build up heat, represented by a gauge that appears on the left side of the HUD. The Tenno must keep this gauge within the white brackets by shooting Distressed Pipes marked by Cephalon Cy , which will cause the heat level to drop. Over time, the required temperature range marked by the brackets will shrink, meaning Tenno must only vent heat when necessary. If the gauge completely fills, the reactor will enter meltdown after 15 seconds, which if not prevented will cause the mission to fail. Additionally, Engineers will attempt to interface with the consoles to forcibly trigger a meltdown.

Once the recalibration is complete, Tenno must reach extraction to return to the Railjack. They must then destroy Reactor Weakpoints on the Corpus Ship exterior using Forward Artillery.
