The sword the fabled Orokin executioner Nihil used to glass the condemned. Swing while Aim Gliding to glass enemies. A Ground Slam will smash nearby glassed foes, while sending forward a narrow shockwave to shatter distant ones. A Heavy Slam sends forth a wider shockwave with greater force.

The Vitrica is Nihil's signature heavy blade, used to judge and vitrify enemies throughout the Origin System during Nightwave: Series 3. It is a heavy blade capable of emitting a blast that glasses enemies with an Aim Glide attack and can shatter them with Slam Attacks.

Characteristics[]

  • This weapon deals primarily DmgSlashSmall64 Slash damage.
  • Has a base 10 second Combo Duration, instead of 5.
  • Using an Aerial Attack during Aim Glide launches glass projectiles that glasses and freezes enemies in-place for 7 seconds over 5 meters. Slam Attacking these glassed enemies will shatter them, inflicting reasonable damage.
    • The glassing seems able to temporarily stun anything short of a boss at any level.
    • Does not affect enemies with Overguard.
    • Glass projectiles have travel time.
    • Glassed enemies will have glass removed by any damage, including damage over time effects.
    • Glass explosion inflicts self-stagger.
  • Stance slot has Vazarin Pol polarity, matching Mod TT 20px Cleaving Whirlwind and Mod TT 20px Tempo Royale Stances.
  • Innate two Madurai Pol polarities.

Advantages over other Melee weapons (excluding modular weapons):

  • Highest base damage of all heavy blades.
  • Highest status chance of all heavy blades.
  • Normal Attack (wiki attack index 1)
    • Above average crit chance (23.00%)
    • Very high total damage (333)
    • High attack range (2.90 m)
    • High status chance (33.00%)
    • Above average crit multiplier (2.30x)
  • Glass Explosion (wiki attack index 2)
    • Above average crit chance (23.00%)
    • High total damage (999)
    • High attack range (2.90 m)
    • Above average status chance (33.00%)
    • Above average crit multiplier (2.30x)

Disadvantages over other Melee weapons (excluding modular weapons):

  • Tied with Zenistar Zenistar for the second slowest attack speed of all heavy blades, after GramPrime Gram Prime.
  • Normal Attack (wiki attack index 1)
    • Very low attack speed (0.83x animation speed)
    • Below average disposition (●●●○○ (1.05x))
  • Glass Explosion (wiki attack index 2)
    • Very low active falloff slope (6.7m/%)
    • Very low maximum falloff distance (6.0 m)
    • Below average attack speed (0.83x animation speed)

Acquisition[]

The Vitrica's blueprint was obtained after defeating Nihil in Nightwave: Series 3, Episode 5.

Following the end of Nightwave Series 3, Nihil's fight now requires an Enter Nihil's Oubliette Key and a Nihil's Oubliette decoration to access, both of which can be purchased from Nightwave Offerings for Nora'sMixVol5Cred 60 each, and the former can be traded between players. Once the Oubliette decoration is installed in the player's own Orbiter, interacting with it with the Key in the player's inventory will trigger the boss fight with Nihil.

Additional blueprints can be bought from Cephalon Simaris for ReputationLarge 100,000.

Melee Attack Explanations
  • A "sweep attack" is an arcing melee strike that intends to hit an enemy with the edge of the blade (the length of obround melee hitbox).
  • A "thrust attack" is a melee strike that intends to hit an enemy with the tip of the blade (the rounded edge of obround melee hitbox).
  • A "360/spin attack" is a sliding sweep attack that hits targets around the player (not always in a 360° arc, but is usually above 180°).
  • A "direct slam attack" is a melee strike that hits a single target at the epicenter of a slam attack.
  • A "radial slam attack" is the area-of-effect component of the melee slam attack. Affected by the Seismic Wave mod.
  • A "ranged attack" is any melee attack that launches a ranged projectile or can hit targets beyond melee range.

  • Average Damage Multiplier per second only applies to single-target DPS calculations.
  • Note that hits marked as "Radial Slam Attack" will not apply at the epicenter of a single target hit so these will not be accounted for in Avg Dmg Multi/s calculations.
  • Combo animation lengths are approximate and are only accurate within a few tenths of a second.
  • Each tile marking in stance preview gifs are 2m apart.
  • Combos labeled with an asterisk (*) are shared between weapons within the same weapon type.

Notes[]

  • While aim gliding, swinging the weapon for the first time will fire a projectile that glasses enemies, similar to Cephalites. Though the attack itself does not deal damage, glassed enemies are frozen in place for 7 seconds.
    • The projectile flight speed can not be increased by mods or ZephyrIcon272 Zephyr's Jet Stream augment.
    • The glass projectile can be controlled by IvaraIcon272 Ivara's Navigator130xWhite Navigator.
  • When a ground slam is executed on a glassed enemy, the enemy will shatter and explode, dealing 999 damage.
    • Slam Attacks, Heavy Attack Slams, and Stance Slams all trigger the glass explosion.
    • Slam Attacks, Heavy Attack Slams, and Stance Slams will trigger a small "wave" of the sword's energy color that will travel in the direction of your Warframe on the ground at 40m/s, dealing 10 DmgImpactSmall64 Impact damage and shattering glassed enemies.
      • Waves generated by normal slam attacks and stance slams travel for 1 second before dissipating, giving them a range of 40m. Each enemy hit by these waves will generate 1 point of combo, or 2 for glassed enemies.
      • Waves generated by heavy slams travel for 2 seconds before disappearing, giving them an 80m range. The waves are also wider, force an DmgImpactSmall64 Impact proc, and are brighter
        • The waves generated by heavy slams count as heavy attacks and as such, benefit from the x2 increased critical chance bonus from Mod TT 20px True Steel. This bonus, along with the bonus from your current combo multiplier, will be applied to any glass explosions triggered by the waves.
    • Glass explosion range is not affected by range mods such as Mod TT 20px Reach.
    • Glass explosion has 100% status chance on the glassed enemy it originated from, which cannot be increase by normal status chance mods.
      • Status chance can be increased by using Mod TT 20px Proton Snap.
      • Explosion radial damage however shares the same status chance as the weapon (33%), including bonuses from status chance mods.
    • Glass explosion damage is affected by elemental and physical damage mods on the glassed enemy it originated from, while explosion radial damage is not.

Tips[]

  • Immediately ground slamming after throwing the glass projectiles is the most reliable way to explode glassed enemies, and is likely to trigger before damage over time effects break the glass just after they've formed.

Bugs[]

  • Glassed enemies will have certain Warframe stuns cleansed from them when the glass effect expires, both when the effect expires naturally after 7 seconds and when the glass is shattered manually. Some of these abilities include Atlas's Petrify, Frost's Avalanche, and Gara's Mass Vitrify. Harrow's Condemn is not affected, despite stunning enemies in a similar fashion.

Trivia[]

  • Vitrica is likely originated from the latin Vitrum, meaning glass.
  • The weapon's black blade resembles obsidian, a naturally-occurring volcanic glass which can be used to make extremely sharp cutting edges.
