- Pages for normal/space/non-Arid Grineers will be tabbed to accommodate the Arid variants. Arid pages shall be renamed to sub-pages using the usual nomenclature format "normalGrineer/Arid Grineer" (i.e. Butcher/Arid Butcher) so they can be linked back to their corresponding page easily.
- In the next few days we will begin replacing existing enemy and boss portraits with DE images. Existing portraits will be moved to the gallery in the Media section. Some pages do not have pictures yet (Anti MOA, Zanuka etc.), they will remain using the screenshots as portraits.
Greetings, and thanks for all your combined efforts in updating the wiki for U11.
le blog teleport thingy |
This blog talks about two things:
- regarding Arid Grineers and normal Grineers.
- regarding enemy portraits for profile pic use.
Let's jump right in.
Arid Grineers[]
When Phobos first launched in U10, we've just added a few pictures and some minor info to those Grineer units pages that had Phobos counterparts, like so: Trooper, Elite Lancer.
In U11, normal Grineers and Arid Grineers have their own Codices, and it is pretty much common sense to create separate pages for them like so: Butcher vs Arid Butcher.
However, as far as I can tell most of their content are duplicates, and by looking at the codex of both space and arid Elite Lancers (last two slides in the gallery), they seem to have the same vulnerabilities, with the only difference being the mod drops. With such little difference, these new Arid pages are in fact redundant, plus we will also need to add the new links into the already cramped Nav box.
I would like to hear your opinion about the idea of combining these pages and deleting the "Arid" ones. In order to minimize the problem of making the page too long, we will need to move the "Mod Drop" section in the InfoBox and put it in the main content as a table (side-by-side, with the header being pictures of both Grineer versions).
So, please vote and leave a comment below (This applies to anyone including admins who worked on the enemy infobox too.)
Enemy Portraits[]
Enemy Portraits refer to the "profile pic" in enemy infoboxes, and we have full guidelines on how to screenshot and upload good enemy portraits in Media Policy.
But turns out DE has been supplying us with high quality PNG images of all enemy units before U11, including the Corrupted and Bosses.
Here are some examples: (some pictures removed.)
Of course some pictures like Stalker and Anti MOA are still yet to be supplied.
So, please vote below. Should we use user images or DE images for enemy portraits?
Option 1 will grant more opportunities to members to contribute their screenshots and use them as enemy portraits, but quality will not be consistent and policies will need to be enforced (and then hard feelings).
Option 2 will allow us to present you consistent high quality pictures, but user contributions will not be used (They'll be moved into the gallery).
Choose wisely.
Thanks!
