  •    I finished buiding Limbo less than a week ago, and he's already surpassed Vauban and Frost as my favorite frame to play as. Limbo brings a whole new dimension to Warframe (Pun intended). I really enjoy that his play style is drastically different than any other Warframe, and that there are so many fun possibilities to explore with his abilities.

       So why does DE want to change the way Limbo works? I honestly think that every Warframe should be radically different than every other in (Including Ash and Loki), but with a dependable weapon or two, the differences become negligable. I've been playing Warframe for almost 3 years now, and until I got Limbo, I was starting to tire of the same old grind. Limbo breathed new life into the game for me, because his abilities work flawlessly together, and his playstyle is so radical and different that it's almost like playing a whole new game. I say that every Warframe should be a 'niche' Warframe. That way, everybody can find a playstyle they really enjoy and run with it. As of now, there are so many warframes yet when you break it all down, they're basically the same playstyle, with their abilities making little to no difference in how you play the game. For example, the first and fourth abilities of almost every warframe have almost the same effects. First ability does good damage to a single target, two if you're lucky or skilled. Fourth ability kills everything around you. second and third are unique, but unless it's as handy as Frost's Snowlobe, they're hardly used. 

       So, I admit I have no idea how DE is planning on changing Limbo's mechanics, but I'm still against it. Yes, he's a niche character, but unless you're goal is to get every Warframe, weapon, and everything else to lv.30 (which I should add is incredibly frustrating and caused a few of my friends to quit due to constant additions to the game), then finding a 'niche' Warframe just magnifies the potential this game has. It would allow players to find their own ways to play the game rather than just grinding for the best weapon or modding for grineer, or most balanced weapon, or whatever, and focus the game more on finding what weapons or Warframes you enjoy playing most.

       Sorry about writing so much, but I feel strongy about this topic.

    • Presumably, they think he's too powerful. A single Limbo pretty much makes any sortie defense mission a walk in the park, even with reduced energy.

    • Most of the community thinks limbo is trash and utterly unusable, because they are used to FPS games and nave no idea of how to work as a team or make use of abilities that are more complicated than "press X for boom". His rework will probably add more utility to keep dumb players happy.


      TL;DR he is probably going to get massive buffs, not a nerf.

      Cast time

      Bad abilities ejecution, 1 and 3

      Bad survivality, u need to 1v1 all the time, or die, high lvl of course

      All warframes outclas limbo, except, rescue, but u cant hack.

      Banish doesnt always cc enemies, u die.

      4 and u die

      If u need op weapons with limbo, easier to use another warframe and dont care about spamming 1 2 3

    • And, that base self-additive buff is nothing compared to a TEAM banshee buff, nova + cc, rhino roar, etc. Immunity? Wukong, valkyr, loki, ivara same thing well played and u can fire freely AND interact with consoles. Defense? only with little range and like a support or eximus killer because if u can.. u know, inside rift colors are annoying, and u can’t fire outside.

      Limbo is near to useless vs corpus, nullifiers affect u even if u are in another f. dimension. Inaros is useless too, corpus will kill u easily but pretty easy to play and u can fire freely anyway.

    • The fact that you can't pick up items in the rift whatever bugs me immensely, if they'd just fix that, it would be so much better. Like cmon.

    • Limbo's problem is, that too many of his skills are doing the same thing: bringing stuff into the Rift.

      His 2 is pretty much only a 1 that is self cast. This can be solved by combining both into 1 skill like Ivara's arrows or Vauban's traps.


      The 4 should be the ultimate of his skills, but it is underwhelming as it is a non-centered Snow Globe with limited duration,  shrinking range and 2 times the energy cost. The damage is not worth mentioning and while it can't be destroyed by enemies it also makes it impossible for players to kill enemies outside the bubble unless Limbo brings them into the Rift too. I actually would make it a normal skill (2 or 3) and cut the energy-cost and damage in half.


      His 3 has more of a contextual problem, because while it is usable (and pretty darn powerful) the remaining kit makes it horribly inefficent to use (not by energy management, but by gameplay). Changing how the ability is paid and its power progresses may be a good step. My idea would be to make it a toggle-ability with energy-drain and extending Rift Walkwhile active. Also I would add an instability meter, which rises over time, making the damage buff higher in proportion, but also amplifying the damage he takes. Finally a state like a kind of over-charge should be in place, that he would need to bring an enemy from time to time into the rift because otherwise he would explode, encouraging players to not wait until their damage multiplier is at a high value.


      I like Limbo myself and actually enjoy playing him, BUT he is a lot of micromanagement, which can become overwhelming in a fast paced game like this, so I understand that some changes might be necessary.

    • I guess he is not so often used... cant remember my last time with him and only times I see someone use him is def in sortie. They probably want to see more people use him and since many people want him changed, he gets changed. Don´t see a problem with it. All reworks but Trinity (miss her help in Sorties ;-/ ) were fine for me (including Ashs).

    • DE is reworking him because he has trolling potential. Even if you're not a troll but is less than experienced when using his abilities, you can easily mess up your team.


      Limbo is a glass cannon along the lines of Banshee. He actually has really high survivability but its up to you to choose whether you want to deal damage or to turtle up and play support. He's also amazing in high level spy missions as anything that can see you can be shot down while everything else like moving lasers, freeze and electric floors will still get you even if you're invisible. You can solo a lot of sortie missions with this guy and even cheese more than half of the principal challenge rooms. Not just rescue sorties but even excavations. Just let the enemies kill the excavators, you'll still get cryotic.

      He's a beast but he needs to be reworked because he can troll. Its not the same as Loki switch or Nova wormhole trolling. He can really get everyone killed when used incorrectly.

      He can make you unable to damage enemies but also immune to damage. His kit can only negate damage to and from allies.

      I understand that he could lock everyone in the rift while the objective is getting beaten on, but they'd just have to roll to get out of it.

      As for troll frames, you're forgetting Valkyr: her ripline can pull allies - me and a friend used her and a sandstorming Inaros to try playing beyblade. There's also bounce pad Vauban and (to an extent) max speed Volt. There's also potential for (mainly accidental) trolling as Equinox if you have a speed Nova on your team. 


      Back on topic - Limbo rework.

      Problems:

      1: Until you unlock his 2 his 1 is entirely worthless.

      2: His 3 is pointless micromanagement - you either have it up or you're recasting it. I would argue that the energy cost is important, but you basically have infinite energy as Limbo - make it a passive or part of his 2.

      3: His 2 should probably be a channel, but that would mess with his energy regen. Having to toggle it off to recast with a long animation is tedious.

      4: He doesn't have the survivability to ever use his 4 and live. It's branded as a damage ability but it really doesn't work as one.

      Ideas:

      1: If the rift is being reimagined to include time then a slow/freeze on his 4 makes sense and fixes a lot of the problems it has.

      2: Remove his 3 and his 2. Hold 1 to enter the rift, tap 1 to banish. Enemies in the rift take increased damage.

      3: In the 2 slot, add an ability that lets Limbo pass through enemies and doors, enemies walked through are slowed. Augment to drag enemies into the rift when walking through them.

      4: Not too sure about his 3. Maybe a speed/slow ability - slow everything in the rift and lower own fire rate to boost accuracy and crit chance or speed up everything in the rift, boosting own fire rate and reload speed. Perhaps? I don't really know.

    • He's to complicated to play, his skill requirement doesn't quite match up with his output. Many other frames could do the same and much more easily too.

      Slow and something to not die in the rift. Damage buff to passive of 1 on for allies.

      Valkyr, Volt, Equinox, and Vauban can't set up areas of denial for their own team. Vauban can maybe set up bounce pads on an MD objective, Valkyr needs to aim very precisely, lest she plays herself, Volts is negated by simply being a little more cautious (I personally walk in aim mode), and equinox is accidental.

      But you haven't lived until you've had Limbo throw down cataclysm on any weapon but melee only sorties (snipers only are a particular treat), or banish the objective carrier/someone hacking a terminal, or just laying down cata over the objective that needs to be interacted with. My favourite is banishing the last enemy, especially a tough one like a bursa, during exterminations or defense missions, dragging it out for way longer than it needs to be. or he can be a lazy ass-hat and rift-walk for an entire 20 minute survival and there's nothing anyone can do because there's no kick ability and the auto-penalty is negated simply be him re-casting. And all of these can't even be starved out since he regenerates his own energy.

      Limbo can be helpful to the team. but 3/4 of his abilities have extremely high troll potential, even purely by accident, and pretty much no one knows when to use Rift Surge effectively. I'd rather have a nova for the damage or a frost for the defense, the rest is self-serving to the limbo player except banishing the defense target in sortie.

      Lol. I play Limbo a lot so I know all the ins and outs of his play style and trolling potential. If you leave a Cataclysm on something as simple as a fan or ventilation panel, no one is gonna get through that thing. Cover life support capsules with it and during a survival, everyone's gonna die. Banish the power cell carrying enemies or put Cataclysm on excavators or make it so no one can pick up a data mass or Cataclysom over data terminals. You don't even need to do any of these to troll, you can just do it by accident by not paying attention to what your team is doing.

      He's pretty strong, though. Almost cheesy. He can boost his weapon damage up to 1000% and higher, he can be invulnerable so he has really high survivability, he can negate really strong enemies by dumping them in the rift for a minute and he's the easiest to use in spy missions. He even cheeses out mastery rank challenges and more than half of the principal challenge rooms.

    • For me, Limbo has two abilities does virtually the same thing (1 and 2), what I had in mind when I heard they wanted to rework him was to merge power 1 and 2 and add another ability.

    • For me Limbo was the shittiest frame in the game, he dies quickly if you don't know how to use him, and you will surely banish at least one of your teammates accidently. You will think you can't play with him...you will think that he is kinda the worst warframe because every time you will have problems....you can't pick up ammo, you can't hack, you can't kill enemies instantly without using your skills while in the rift....I thought he's bad so i left him in the closet

      Then after a while I started to play with him because i was bored that every warframe is the same, and there are those that are needed for high level missions....and I still hated him....I knew he had potential but I just couldn't use him....and then when i started to get synchronized with his playstyle I started to like him....yeah he's not necessarily that kind of frame that will kill a lot of mobs just by his skills......you can be invulnerable....AND?....there are other frames that will do the same....but they can do much more killing while being unbeatable....Limbo can either take a more defensive way and camp a lot....or be more offensive and cast his 1 and 4 a lot for getting enemies into their death....

      I think he's fine as he is.....the drop pickup is a pretty fair trade of (yet annoying i admit it) for his potential, and you can get the drops by recasting the cataclyst in a few seconds after collecting everything.....yeah he has a lot of trolling potential, but i'd rather make the destroyable things destroyable in his bubble, while making it unable to pickup drops and hacking....i think he's fine as he is....it just depends on you whether you want to play him good or not.....if he is not your playstyle...there are like 30 other frames you can choose from...

      But please....PLEASE....don't change him just because many players cant play with him....he is not unusable....even if dumb players cant play with him because he is neither the spam one ability or the get energy then kill everything type frame.....he can be very good in team while making him a pretty good solo frame aswell.....

      Or Just someone wants to play something, not just press 2  and 4 it and sit down waiting to extract. It's not a limbo problem, too many CC frames are overpowered and some missions becoming pretty stupid and boring. But i think DE know this very well! They wants a game for retar*s!

      I'd like you to relook at the dates on these posts. Perhanps you missed that piece of info? Limbo has already recieved the rework and arguably is in a MUCH better state.
