The origin of these interlopers aboard the Zariman is a mystery to its crew members. Curiously, they are only visible to those who have been touched by the Void.

Thrax Legates are mysterious Void manifestations that are armed with the  Aeolak.

Killing them awards 2,500 Focus points to the current active school, counting towards the daily cap.

Lore & History[]

Thrax Legates vaguely resemble ancestral Grineer . They, along with the Thrax Centurions, were brought into existence by Dominus Thrax,[1] who now uses them as brutish enforcers in the kingdom of Duviri.[2]

First arriving from beyond the Albrecht Membrane, the Centurions have now become recent invaders aboard the Zariman Ten Zero.

Behavior[]

Similar to Eidolon Vomvalyst, they possess a physical form and a spectral form. The physical form is a formidable opponent in possession of Overguard, rendering them immune to most crowd control until it is removed.

In this form they possess two special abilities:

  • They vanish and summon three spectral copies, which will send out a beam that inflicts  Magnetic damage with high status chance. Each copy can be destroyed by Operators to stop its beam.
  • They ascend into the air and fire a burst of explosive projectiles, much like Hellions.

Destroying the physical form reverts it into a spectral form that can only be damaged by  Void damage from the Operator's attacks.  Void damage deals 10x damage to the spectral form. Legatus variants that spawn in Duviri do not have a spectral form and are defeated upon killing the physical form.

If near a humanoid enemy, the spectral form will attempt to consume them, reconstituting its physical body. When attempting to consume a humanoid enemy, the spectral form takes 100x damage from  Void.

All of its armor is stripped once it enters its spectral form, and its armor won't be restored even if it manages to reconstitute by consuming an enemy.

Notes[]

  • Immune to loot abilities, including  Ivara's  Prowl.
  • The spectral form cannot be harmed by  Xaku's  Xata's Whisper.
  • Thrax enemies can never be turned into Shadows with  Nekros'  Shadows of the Dead because Warframes cannot kill Thrax Spectral Forms. Leaving a Mark of Death on them will also not allow them to respawn as Shadows. However,  Soul Punch can execute Thrax enemies below 25% health, bypassing their Spectral phase entirely, and will instantly respawn the Thrax as a Shadow for Nekros if he is not at this Shadow limit.
  • In Mobile Defense, the number of Thrax units per console is based on squad size:
    • 1 player: 2 Thrax
    • 2 players: 3 Thrax
    • 3+ players: 4 Thrax

Tips[]

  • Thrax units have high spawn appearances in Mobile Defense and Void Cascade missions for their Thrax Plasm and Arcane Enhancement drops.
  • The Thrax Spectral Forms become particularly vulnerable to operator damage while attempting to consume a nearby enemy, giving a great opportunity to kill them if they prove difficult to kill otherwise. This is useful in very high level missions (like Steel Path) where even well equipped players can have difficulty killing Thrax Spectres.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being hostile towards enemies when attempting to reconstitute themselves by devouring them in their spectral forms, they never attack nor are attacked by either the Corpus or even the Grineer. The Codex entry states that Thrax enemies can only be seen by those who have been touched by the Void.

Patch History[]

Update 37.0 (2024-10-02)

  • Fixed slowing effects from Atlas’s Petrify and Dagath’s Wyrd Scythes affecting Thrax enemies while transitioning to their spectral forms.

Hotfix 35.5.7 (2024-04-17)

  • Fixed a script error when Thrax Legatus is killed during its beam attack.

Hotfix 35.1.2 (2024-02-28)

  • Fixed a crash related to dealing damage to Thrax enemies in the Zariman.

Update 35.1 (2024-02-20)

  • Thrax Centurions and Legatus enemies will now clear all active Status Effects when transitioning to their spectral forms.
    • They were already immune to new Status Effects in their spectral form, but any Status Effects they had before transitioning would still persist. This led to issues such as their transition animation being slowed down considerably by Cold Status Effects that were inflicted while in their corporeal form.

Hotfix 34.0.1 (2023-10-18)

  • Fixed Thrax getting instantly killed instead of entering their spectral states when killed by Dagath’s Wyrd Scythes.

Hotfix 32.2.2 (2022-12-01)

  • Fixed Lua Thrax enemies spawning in the Endurance Drift test and getting stuck in the room.
    • They will now no longer spawn in these areas.
  • Fixes towards Lua Thrax enemies not spawning if they can’t find a valid spot within 10m of a player.

Hotfix 32.2.1 (2022-11-30)

  • Fixed Lua Thrax enemies losing their waypoint if they get ragdolled.
  • Fixed the Lua Thrax enemies’ spawn sound FX stacking.

Update 32.2 (2022-11-30)

NEW LUA NODES: CONJUNCTION SURVIVAL

Lua rumbles. The Void exposes old scars and revives forgotten secrets. Smelling possible treasure, the Grineer have descended upon these newly exposed halls, only to be instantly Corrupted by its long-dormant Orokin Neural Sentry.

New Thrax Variants
These enemies spawn in these nodes and increase the depletion of Life Support by 50% of the regular rate while they are alive. Defeat all Thrax threats to remove this added pressure on Life Support! Two Thrax enemies spawn by default, but they are also affected by the number of players in the squad (+1 spawn for each squadmate).

Hollow Thrax Legatus: Armed with an Aeolak, these lesser Thrax manifestations are unable to take incorporeal form, but remain deadly opponents.

Lua Thrax Legatus: Armed with an Aeolak, the origin of these ghostly interlopers is a mystery, but the Void Conjunction is surely at its root. The Lua Thrax Legatus spawns on the base Circulus and Steel Path Yuvarium nodes for an added layer of difficulty.

Update 32.0 (2022-09-07)

  • Fixed issue of Thrax enemy Spectral Forms re-spawning with 40% Max Health.
  • Fixed issues of Thrax Spectral Forms returning to their Corporeal Form at 2.5x their original health.

Update 31.6 (2022-06-09)

  • Reduced the Energy drain from Magnetic procs from 50 to 20 per tick.
    • This not only applies to Thrax enemies, but to Magnetic damage across the game (laser doors, magnetic water in the Plains of Eidolon, etc.)! A default Magnetic proc used to drain 250 Energy, now it will do 100.
  • Overguard resistance/base amount will now show up on Thrax enemies in the Codex.
  • Adjusted Thrax enemy spawns in Mobile Defense to scale based on the size of the squad:
    • Solo: 2 Thrax spawns per Console
    • 2 Player squad: 3 Thrax spawns per Console
    • 3+ Player squad: 4 Thrax spawns per Console
      • For any Tenno not playing in a full squad, we found the Thrax spawns in Mobile Defense were far too difficult to manage either solo or with fewer Tenno. We’ve since scaled the spawns to compensate!
  • Fixed an issue with the Thrax Legatus’ beam damage tick rate being doubled.
    • If you were standing in its beam attack, the damage you receive would be astronomical, even at lower levels (Level 10 Legatus enemies could down a full health Valkyr in one beam attack). What was happening is that the Legatus would be dealing multiple instances of damage instead of constant single tick. This has now been resolved, so there should be no one hit wonders.
  • Fixed Thrax Legatus enemies being able to inflict Magnetic Status procs on Warframes with a Rank 5 Arcane Nullifier equipped (102% chance to resist Magnetic Status Effects entirely).

Hotfix 31.5.9 (2022-05-12)

  • Fixed a rare case of being unable to progress in Void Flood missions after killing a Thrax enemy with Void Sling, causing the Thrax to go into an invincible state.
  • Fixed broken enemy behavior when Thrax enemies are disarmed by abilities, which also led them to run around with just a Sheev (fear the butter knife).
    • They will now take damage (and be knocked down if Overguard is depleted) when disarmed.

Hotfix 31.5.8 (2022-05-11)

  • Fixed the rare instance where both the Thrax unit and the enemies it channeled became invisible for an indefinite amount of time.

Hotfix 31.5.5 (2022-05-03)

  • Fixed Thrax enemies being able to activate any interactables in Zariman missions, which would disable them for players.
  • More fixes towards script errors related to Thrax enemy spawns.

Hotfix 31.5.4 (2022-05-02)

  • Lowered the difficulty of the Void Cascade mission in the Angels of the Zariman quest:
    • Reduced the Thrax units max Health.
    • Reduced the Thrax units max Overguard.
    • Reduced the Thrax units Armor.
    • Lowered enemy count.
      • As we have continued to review feedback, there has been a continuation of difficulty feedback during portions of the quest. While the quest may be easy to complete for some, we want to find accommodations for those who have been struggling to move past certain stages.
  • Potential fixes towards Thrax units not spawning. As reported here: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1306746-no-thrax-attackers-spawning-at-end-of-void-flood/
  • Fixed Thrax unit not matching enemy levels.
  • Fixed more script errors related to Thrax enemies in Void Cascade and Flood missions.
  • Fixed Ivara’s Prowl applying to Thrax units in between their physical and Void states.
    • Looting abilities no longer apply to Thrax units - similarly to Acolytes.

Hotfix 31.5.3 (2022-04-29)

  • Fixed script error related to Thrax enemies.
  • Fixed script error related to Thrax enemy spawns in Void Flood/Cascade missions.

Hotfix 31.5.2 (2022-04-28)

  • Fixed several issues caused by Host migration in Void Flood missions:
    • Thrax enemies not spawning.

  • Fixed Focus points gained from killing Thrax enemies not appearing in the End of Mission screen.

  2. "That's him. Thrax's enforcer. MY REPLACEMENT. For two pins, I'd come down there and smash his face in myself! But I can't, so you have to. Help yourself to his chest." - Lodun
