When tragedy strikes, the Ventkids search for hope in a long-lost story.
—Quest Description

The Waverider is an optional solo-only quest featuring a comic of YareliIcon272 Yareli, a Warframe that originated K-Driving and inspired the Ventkids. Completing this quest awards the blueprint for Yareli.

Synopsis[]

Roky finds a comic Graphica called Waverider #1, featuring YareliIcon272 Yareli who inspired K-Driving, but is fatally injured trying to unlock it. Boon implores the Tenno to unlock it in her stead. As they unravel the Graphica's pages, which depict Yareli fighting against a slave-driver named Vulgran, Nef Anyo reveals that he brokered a deal with Roky to release the Ventkids debt to him in exchange for the completed Graphica for a buyer he has on Deimos.

The Tenno complete the Graphica, but Nef Anyo claims the buyer no longer wants the Graphica and is now useless to him. Boon discovered that the buyer was Grandmother who received the completed Graphica from the Ventkids in exchange for an elixir to heal Roky. She also bought out the vents where they live, removing their debts to Nef Anyo. Grandmother reveals to the Tenno that a blueprint of Yareli was hidden inside the Waverider #1 Graphica.

Walkthrough[]

This quest can be accessed directly from the Codex, after completing the Vox Solaris and being Mastery Rank 3.

View Roky's Inbox Message[]

After starting the quest, the player will receive another inbox message from Roky, informing them about YareliIcon272 Yareli, the original inspiration for K-Driving, and had found something. She urges them to meet her in Fortuna.

Visit Roky in Fortuna[]

Upon arrival, the Tenno find Roky lying down and Boon beside her with the prompt "What happened?". He explains that they found Roky in comatose having broken her neuro-conduit and on her possession was a Graphica dubbed Waverider #1, featuring a comic illustration of Yareli, but it is locked and believes Roky injured herself trying to unravel its secrets. Knowing there is zero chance Nef Anyo's augmentors will repair Roky, Boon only hopes that she will awaken on her own, explaining that when he was injured in the past Roky would stay by his side and tell him stories of Yareli, and urges the Tenno to unlock the Graphica so he can give Roky a story to return to.

Nef Anyo grows impatient and demands the completed Graphica. However, Boon invites the Tenno to return to the Ventkids.

Return to Fortuna[]

Nef Anyo suddenly calls off the deal, claiming the buyer was spooked and the Graphica is now worthless to him. Instead, the buyer agreed to purchase the ventilation shafts where the Ventkids live in.

In the vents, Roky awakens, with the prompt "Roky's awake!" While she was asleep, she dreamed of Yareli riding with her all across the Orb Vallis. Boon fills her in on the completed Graphica, revealing that he found out the Deimos buyer is Grandmother, who received the Graphica from the Ventkids in exchange for an elixir to heal Roky and bought out their home which effectively removes all their debts.

Back on the Orbiter, Grandmother sends an inbox message to the Tenno. She expresses disappointment at Nef Anyo's greed, but required the Graphica to revive Yareli. She delivers the blueprint for the YareliIcon272 Yareli Warframe, Noggle Statue - Yareli, K-Drive Booster, and Yareli Prex Orbiter Decorations. The Tenno will also keep the Waverider #1 which can also be used as an Orbiter Decoration.

More than a legend

Oh, hello dear. What a pit that all of Nef Anyo's money could not buy him a morsel of taste nor a crumb of conscience. A man with a morals of a creeping scab, and just between the two us, not a patch on the man his father was. One hates to do business of any kind of his sort, but you must understand, dear, that an old friend's life was at stake.
Imagine failing to recognise the beauty of Waverider 1! Thinking of it as low, commoner art, seeing it only as a source of cash! What do you suppose he might have said if he'd known there was something quite unexpected concealed in those pages? Well. More someone than something, if I'm being honest with you.

This is for you, Tenno. The very, very old friend of mine mentioned before, finally located. Bring her to life, if you'd be so kind? I think my young 'tenants' on Fortuna would like to meet her.
—Grandmother

Notes[]

  • Players who already have a fully built YareliIcon272 Yareli prior to completion of this quest will additionally receive a Riven Mod.

  • Mod TT 20px Inertia Dampeners can assist in achieving high point scores.

Update 34.0 (2023-10-18)

Quest Improvements

Waverider Quest
For those who didn’t grow up playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater, the Waverider Quest may be a stopping point for you to acquire Yareli. Simply put: the gameplay requirements are not what you see in your average Warframe mission, being K-drive focused. While we love adding variety to our game, accessibility, and enjoyment is also an important factor -- especially since this is the free path to earning Yareli.

With that in mind, we have made the following changes to the Waverider Quest:

  • We’ve reduced the number of challenges per page from 5 to 3, resulting in a whopping reduction of overall Quest requirements from 25 to 15 challenges!
  • With fewer challenges overall, we’ve reworked the remaining challenges with the focus of making them simpler and easier to complete while still showcasing the breadth of gameplay available on your K-Drive!
  • Added the Quest Challenges to the pause menu while it is active to increase visibility and reduce the inconvenience of reopening the comic every time you need to check your progress. Hovering over a challenge will also provide you with a “how-to” description, offering more details on how to complete the listed objective!
  • Added Quest icon to the prompting text lines when interacting with Boon in Fortuna, to help players identify which dialogue prompt to click to proceed with the Quest stages.
  • The Yareli Comic is now accessible in the Vent Kids’ Clubhouse in Fortuna while the Waverider Quest is active. Instead of having to return to your Orbiter to check challenge progress, players have an additional option of visiting Boon and reading the comic there!
  • Added a “Skip All” button to the Yareli Comic Pages for players who want to skip past the narration and read the pages themselves.

Here's a look at what the Waverider Quest Challenges are now:

PAGE 1:

  • Copter x 5
  • Complete a K-Drive Race
  • Kill 5 enemies with a Secondary Weapon while riding a K-Drive

PAGE 2

  • Nose Planker or Tail Planker x 5
  • Obtain 5 seconds of air-time on a K-Drive
  • Get 5 Headshot Kills with a Secondary Weapon while riding a K-Drive

PAGE 3:

  • Keep a K-Drive trick chain alive for 10 seconds
  • Frontside Rollout x 5
  • Backside Rollout x 5

PAGE 4:

  • Perform 2 x10 combos
  • Complete 2 different K-Drive races
    • This challenge is a rework of the “Earn X points in a K-Drive race” challenges, which were impossible to do for certain K-Drive races.
  • 5 slam kills with the K-Drive
    • This works if you simply land on enemies or kill them with Slam Shockwaves!
    • We've also buffed Slam Shockwave radial damage from 5 to 100! Direct impacts still deal 1000 damage, but now missed maneuvers will do as much damage as a bullet jump.

PAGE 5:

  • Kill 5 enemies while mid-air/during a trick chain
  • Collect a total of 10,000 race points
  • Earn 500 points in a K-Drive trick chain

Hotfix 32.0.7 (2022-09-28)
