Bugs

  • In the orbiter, Garuda's Noble Animation Set also makes her Talons to produce large upside-down reflections on the distant floor behind her while she is standing still. This might also be the case for other Animation Sets but the resulted reflection is probably not in a visible place.
  • While holding the Quanta Quanta or MutalistQuanta Mutalist Quanta, Garuda's Noble Animation Set makes the lower arm of the rifle clip into her left thigh.
  • Enemies affected by Garuda's 2nd Ability, Blood Altar, interact oddly with certain CC effects. They are supposed to be invulnerable, but certain CCs will affect them, causing the Blood Altar to end early. This includes Simulor Simulor vortexes and LimboIcon272 Limbo's Stasis130xWhite Stasis. (May include others?) This also makes Blood Altar uncastable on affected enemies. For example, you cannot use Blood Altar on enemies inside Cataclysm130xWhite Cataclysm (with Stasis active).

Trivia

  • Garuda is the 37th unique Warframe to be released.
  • Garuda is a legendary bird-like creature in Hindu mythology who serves as Vishnu's mount. Garuda also has ties to Buddhist and Jain mythology.
  • Garuda was first revealed at TennoCon 2018 alongside RevenantIcon272 Revenant.
  • Garuda's Abilities & model was showcased on Devstream 118.
  • Mentioned to be similar to ValkyrIcon272 Valkyr in her theme of "gore", though where Valkyr is basic, unbridled rage, Garuda personifies a cold, detached, and calculated version of slaughter instead.
  • Garuda's alternate helmet "Bathory" is a nod towards Elizabeth Bathory, a Hungarian Noblewoman held accountable for the deaths of many young women and, in some stories, bathed in their blood to keep her beauty and/or youth. Elizabeth Bathory is often compared to Vlad the Impaler for their brutal acts of sadism. Both evolved to become the inspiration for many vampire stories.
  • Garuda's main blueprint is not actually a reward for Vox Solaris quest. The official reward for the quest is a K-Drive Launcher, while Garuda's main blueprint is sent from Eudico via a message.
    • The blueprint is said to be found embedded in a tangle of Vallis fungi years ago, implying that it is not just recently recovered but unbeknownst to the Tenno.
  • In comparison to GaraIcon272 Gara, who is also tied to the Landscape introduced alongside the Warframe:
    • Garuda is the second Warframe, after Gara, to require multiple unique resources found in only one mission and location on the Star Chart for crafting her components, being the Orb Vallis.
    • Garuda is the third Warframe whose component blueprints are all acquired from Bounties, after Gara and RevenantIcon272 Revenant.
    • Garuda requires Vega Toroids, Calda Toroids and Sola Toroids, 2 of each, alongside 3 types of gems and 3 types of alloys from Mining, and 3,500 Kuva, making her considerably more resource-intensive.
    • Unlike Gara, Garuda does not require any resources from Fishing.
  • Garuda was released with Nagantaka Nagantaka, her Signature Crossbow, but she has no separate Signature Melee. This is due to the fact that she has an innate Melee Weapon, GarudaTalons Garuda Talons.
  • According to Devstream 119, there will be more lore and backstory regarding Garuda in the future.

Trivia

  • Garuda Prime is the eleventh Primed Warframe whose non-Primed variant was unlockable through a quest (Vox Solaris), after HarrowIcon272 Harrow, NidusIcon272 Nidus, GaraIcon272 Gara, OctaviaIcon272 Octavia, InarosIcon272 Inaros, TitaniaIcon272 Titania, AtlasIcon272 Atlas, ChromaIcon272 Chroma, LimboIcon272 Limbo, and MirageIcon272 Mirage.
  • Garuda Prime is the first Primed Warframe whose Exalted Weapon possesses different stats compared to her standard counterpart.
    • Treating her Talons as a unique weapon due to having modified stats, Garuda Prime is the first Prime Warframe (followed by KhoraPrimeIcon272 Khora Prime) to have three Prime items released together (in Garuda's case, Nagantaka Prime, Corvas Prime, and her Talons). Other Prime Warframes have at most two new Prime items, and those who do have Prime Exalted Weapons (such as MesaPrimeIcon272 Mesa Prime's RegulatorsPrime Regulators Prime) have the same stats as their standard counterparts.

Passive

The more GarudaIcon272 Garuda kills the more vicious her attacks become; Garuda gains up to 100% additional damage bonus for her abilities and weapons for each kill or assisted kill.

  • Damage bonus increases by 5% per kill.
  • After not killing for 5 seconds, the damage bonus decays by 1% per 2 seconds.
    • If Garuda is inside an ability-nullifying field, such as those of the Nullifier Crewman, the decay will begin after 1 second between kills at a rate of 2% per 1 second.
  • In Landscapes, killing enemies while in Archwing also raises the damage bonus. However, kills on K-Drive do not.
    • The buff does not work while on Archwing or K-Drive, however, only when Garuda dismounts and resumes fighting on foot (needs verification).
  • Kills made by Garuda while manning a Railjack turret, whether via direct fire or with abilities such as Mod TT 20px Seeker Volley, also contribute to raising the damage bonus.
  • Damage bonus is displayed above the ability bars as a red Garuda's iconic symbol.
  • Damage bonus is calculated independent of other damage sources.
  • Damage appears to stack multiplicatively, even with other multiplicative sources such as Roar130xWhite Roar and faction damage mods.
  • Every 5% of the gauge filled causes crimson red blood to splatter onto Garuda's body, helmet, and claws.

When no melee weapon is selected in the Arsenal loadout, GarudaTalons Garuda Talons (GarudaPrimeTalons Prime) become available in the Arsenal screen as an exclusive melee weapon that can be modified separately and equipped for combat during missions.

Unlike most Warframes, when Garuda ranks up she receives a special set of rank bonuses which are indicated at the top-left of the Warframe Upgrade screen:

  • +13% / +25% / +38% / +50% / +63% / +75% / +88% / +100% / +113% / +125% Energy capacity at ranks 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 / 15 / 18 / 21 / 24 / 27 / 30 respectively.
Garuda receives a total of +125% Energy capacity at Rank 30 instead of the usual +50% with all other Warframes.

Update 34.0 (2023-10-18)

Base vs Final Stats in Modding - Health / Energy / Shield / Armor Stat Overhaul

If you’ve spent any time invested in the deeper nuances of Modding, you may be familiar with “Warframe Math” - math that upon first glance doesn’t really make sense, but once you learn the inner workings of the game, it all comes together. While we can appreciate the value that complex systems offer to a certain subsect of players, there are other aspects of the game that should have clear and understandable outcomes. Namely: Shield, Health, Energy, and Armor Modding.

Pop quiz: what is 300 + 440%? If you answered 740, you may just be an Excalibur player.

Vitality (+440% Heath), Redirection (+440% Shields), Flow (+150% Energy), and Steel Fiber (+110% Armor) come with large modifier values that don’t seem to match their outcome in-game. This is because these Mods apply their multiplier to the base stats of the Warframe - i.e., the stats you have at Rank 0. In the Excalibur example, a Rank 30 Excalibur’s Health stat of 300 earns an additional 440 Health from max rank Vitality (+440% Heath) since it applies to his base rank Health stat of 100, resulting in 740 total health.

In this update, we have removed this obfuscation by having Health, Shield, Energy, and Armor Mods apply to the stats of Warframes at their current rank. Continuing our Excalibur example, instead of Vitality always applying to Excalibur’s base rank 100 Health, it would apply to his Health stat based on his rank - namely, the stat you can actually see in your Arsenal. If your Excalibur were Rank 30, his Health stat would be 300, which means Vitality’s multiplier would be calculated off of 300.

With previous Health and Mod values, additional adjustments are needed to make this revision work while maintaining game balance. By only changing where the multiplier applies, a Rank 30 Excalibur would receive an extra 1,320 Health from max rank Vitality, resulting in a total health stat of 1,600. This outcome is a significant buff, which is not the intention of this system change.

To remedy this, we approached this problem in two ways:

1 - We reduced the overall multiplier for Health, Shield, Energy, and Armor Mods.
Since these now affect Max Rank Warframe stats, these Mods need to scale differently to maintain the status quo. Additionally, we wanted these new values to be as clear and understandable to all players as possible! Here are a few examples of these value changes:

  • Vitality: Reduced from +440% to +100% Health
  • Redirection: Reduced from +440% to +100% Shield Capacity
  • Steel Fiber: Reduced from +110% to +100% Armor
  • Flow: Reduced from +150% to +100% Energy Max

Note: These are not all of the Mods affected by this change. We share the comprehensive list further down in this section of the update notes.

Doing some quick math, this means that a Rank 30 Excalibur (300 Health) with a reworked Vitality Mod (+100% Health, applied to the final Health stat) would receive 300 extra Health, for a total of 600. That, in contrast, is a nerf, which we also don’t want to do.

So, our next step:

2 - We adjusted Warframe Health, Shield, Energy, and Armor values to keep the end result of the revised Mods as close to the original values as possible.

With this change, Excalibur’s Rank 30 Health stat is 370. With +100% Health from a max Vitality Mod, his resulting Health stat would be 740, which matches what it was originally.

While this path to the same result may seem a little complicated, the outcome matches our intention: we want players to be able to look at their Health, Shield, and Armor Mods, and be able to understand how they affect the stats they see in their Arsenal.

In addition to everything above, we also increased the base stat values for Warframes so that these revised Mods offer similar value for lower-ranked Frames. To do so, we reduced the amount of Health/Shield/Energy that Warframes earn per rank in half, and transferred the sum of that value to their base stats.

For Armor, this is the one stat that does not increase with your Warframe’s level (with some exceptions). Armor values across the board have been slightly increased to compensate for the Mod changes.

Not to beat a dead Kaithe, but Mods will now be applying to the Max Rank stat instead of the Base Rank. You may look at these numbers and think “nerf” or “buff” depending, but the outcome is that total Modded values are the same, if not a little higher in some cases. Here are a few outliers before we get into the nitty-gritty of it:

  • Garuda and Garuda Prime’s received buffs to their Modded Energy pool.
    • ie. Garuda Prime’s Energy stat has been increased from 800 (previous) to 912 (new with this update) with max Primed Flow equipped.

Warframe Stat Changes:

GARUDA
Health: Base Rank - 270 (from 100) / Max Rank - 370 (from 300)
Shields: Base Rank - 270 (from 100) / Max Rank - 370 (from 300)
Armor: Base Rank - 315 (from 300)
Energy: Base Rank - 140 (from 120) / Max Rank - 240 (from 270)

GARUDA PRIME
Health: Base Rank - 270 (from 100) / Max Rank - 370 (from 300)
Shields: Base Rank - 270 (from 100) / Max Rank - 370 (from 300)
Armor: Base Rank - 420 (from 400)
Energy: Base Rank - 220 (from 160) / Max Rank - 320 (from 360)

While there may be significant changes to Warframe Stats and Mod values as a part of this overhaul, the end result is that your Builds should mostly stay the same. The key difference is the added clarity of what your Health / Shield / Energy / Armor Mods do in your Upgrade screens!

Hotfix 33.5.3 (2023-06-23)

  • Fixed several issues with Warframe Overguard reducing the effectiveness of the following supportive abilities/effects:
    • Fixed Garuda’s Blood Altar not healing.

Hotfix 33.0.11 (2023-05-24)

  • Fixed Garuda’s Seeking Talons Slash damage triggering Exodia Force and causing significant lag issues.
    • This was due to the hundreds of damage instances created by this looping interaction. Similar to the Update 32.2 change to Saryn’s Toxic Lash with Exodia Force, this was a necessary fix to prevent rampant performance issues.

Update 33.0 (2023-04-26)

  • Fixed Garuda being unable to perform Melee Finishers with her Talons in missions that disable Melee weapons.
  • Fixed the Right Edo Prime Shoulder Plate appearing higher than intended on Garuda Prime when toggling Prime details on TennoGen skins.
  • Fixed Garuda’s Blood Altar not inheriting customized colors.

Update 32.3 (2023-02-15)

  • Fixed Garuda’s Dread Mirror not absorbing damage.
  • Fixed the Gladiator Mods equipped on Garuda Prime not applying its set Critical Chance bonus to her Prime Talons.
    • Gladiator Mods apply to Garuda Prime Talons because they are not an exalted weapon, and don’t interact with other melee mods on their regular melee weapon. The Garuda Prime Talons are similar to Titania’s Diwata in this case, which is why the Gladiator set bonus doesn’t apply to Excalibur’s Exalted Blade and Valkyr’s Talons.
  • Fixed Garuda’s custom HUD for her passive shifting to the middle of the screen after entering a loading tunnel (ex: Zariman elevator).

Hotfix 32.2.9 (2023-01-11)

  • Tooltips for Warframe stats in the Arsenal will now replace mentions of “Energy” with “Health” for Garuda (where applicable).
  • Fixed offset issues with the Edo Prime Shoulder Plate when equipped on Garuda Prime with a Tennogen skin.

Hotfix 32.2.5 (2022-12-14)

  • Fixed Garuda’s Blood Forge Augment Mod not refilling the ammo of Battery Weapons.
    • Battery Weapons will now have their ammo charged to full instantly when Bloodletting is cast.
  • Fixed the dangling bit of the Narvarr Prime Leg Plates floating when equipped on the Garuda Tengushin Skin.

Update 32.0 (2022-09-07)

  • Fixed Garuda's Blending Talons Augment not triggering when hitting an enemy with Overguard is affected by a Slash Status Effect.
  • Fixed being unable to use Garuda’s Claws on Railjack after dying in Archwing.

Update 31.6 (2022-06-09)

  • Garuda’s Dread Mirror now blocks all radial damage in front of it and grants stagger/knockdown immunity.

Hotfix 31.5.10 (2022-05-17)

  • Fixed several issues with abilities when forced into Operator (in Zariman Cascade missions for example):
    • Fixed Garuda’s Seeking Talons HUD showing up when in Operator if cast while entering anti-Warframe area.
    • Fixed Garuda’s Bloodletting not granting Energy.

Hotfix 31.5.8 (2022-05-11)

  • Fixed script error related to Garuda’s Seeking Talons during Host migration.

Hotfix 31.5.5 (2022-05-03)

  • Fixed holding Garuda’s Dread Mirror to charge the damage of her blood ball consuming Energy, but not increasing damage.

Update 31.5 (2022-04-27)

  • Fixed Garuda/Garuda Prime’s Talon colors not being saved in other Appearance Slots other than A.
  • Fixed Garuda/Garuda Prime’s passive damage boost values in HUD alternating between other squad members also playing as her, resulting in incorrect values.
  • Fixed Garuda Prime’s Dread Mirror losing all its Prime details if it expires while still having the projectile active.
  • Fixed Garuda’s Ability description appearing outside text box when viewing in German.
  • Fixed script error related to Garuda’s Seeking Talons.

Hotfix 31.3.1 (2022-03-29)

  • Fixed inability to use Garuda’s Talons if a Host migration occurred.
  • Fixed Garuda Talons moving when hovering on/off color swatches in the Arsenal.
  • Fixed Garuda Prime’s rear skirt cloth clipping through some Syandanas.

Update 31.3 (2022-03-28)

  • Introduced Garuda Prime.
  • Fixed Garuda Talons not retaining skin details/textures in Arsenal preview.
  • Fixed Garuda's Seeking Talons UI getting stuck on screen after falling into a teleport volume while casting it.

Hotfix 31.2.1 (2022-03-18)

  • Fixed Garuda’s new passive HUD icon losing its damage buff status while active after Transferring to Operator and back.

Update 31.2 (2022-03-16)
