The Star Chart is the interface used to access missions through the "Navigation" segment in the Orbiter. It shows the celestial bodies of the Solar System (also referred to as the Origin System). Each celestial body (also referred to as "planet") has its own set of resources and a backstory regarding the faction that is controlling the planet (accessed through Cephalon Fragments). Some planets may feature more than one faction at the same time.
Once completing the The Archwing Quest, the player will have the possibility to switch between the normal Star Chart and the Empyrean one, and even if they haven't built a Railjack they can join other teams to play this game mode starting from Earth Proxima. More advanced planets aren't unlocked through Junctions but require a certain Intrinsics level.
After clearing all nodes of the Star Chart (except the two Eris Assassination missions) and talking to Teshin, a toggle on the right of the map will allow the player to select The Steel Path, a harder version of the normal Star Chart with level 100+ enemies to gain unique rewards and obtain more Mastery Points by replaying all nodes. The Empyrean star chart is not included in unlocking this.
When zooming in or clicking on a celestial body, the player sees how they are linked through Solar Rails Junctions, beginning with Earth, and can select individual mission nodes to play.
The Star Chart uses the following symbols:
Empty grey rhombus, with grey lines leading to it: This mission is not yet available because the missions leading to it must be completed first.
Light blue rhombus, with light blue lines leading to it: This mission has not yet been completed but is available because an adjacent mission has been completed.
White rhombus, with white lines leading to it: This mission has been completed but remains available for replay.
Particular missions have special symbols, such as Dark Sectors with the default Clan logo, Quest missions with the Quest symbol, Syndicate missions with their respective symbol, Fissures with a flame symbol, Bosses with an eye wearing a crown, Junctions with a rhombus on top of a chevron insignia, Sorties with four diamonds within a flag, Nightmare missions with a white swirl inside of red rhombus symbol and Landscapes with a white triangle made of two smaller ones and a rhombus.
If at least one node of a planet is controlled by a Kuva Lich, the planet itself will appear in the Star Chart surrounded by red blood droplets. Zooming on the planet will show the fog only on the nodes actually controlled by the Lich. Next to the planet name, the Kuva Lich symbol is shown.
Besides the mission nodes, some planets have a Relay Node. The available relays differ between the PC/Switch, PSN, and XBX versions and two of the available relays will be locked behind a Mastery Rank of either 4 or 8. In addition, a special Relay called Maroo's Bazaar can be found on Mars and serves as a trading hub for players.
Earth, Venus and Deimos feature Landscapes, which can be directly accessed from the Star Chart, and town hubs with their own nodes which offer unique Syndicates and vendors. Missions in Landscapes, called Bounties, can not be started from the Star Chart but only in the towns or in the Landscapes themselves.
Certain planets might have nodes that can not be immediately accessed even if the nearby nodes were completed. Clicking on them will show the requirements needed to play those missions: usually the completion of a specific Quest or a certain Mastery Rank.

If you own a Railjack, consider visiting the practice node 'Free Flight' on Earth Proxima to practice Piloting and learning your Railjack's layout. If you do not yet own a Railjack, prepare to assist a squad and work together. We all lift together!

Players can access Railjack missions by clicking on the Railjack icon beneath the World State Window. A new Star Chart will appear containing the Proxima regions of certain planets. Players can either click on a specific node or the JOIN ANY CREW button in each Proxima to randomly join public squads.
Note that Railjack mission nodes do not grant Mastery Rank XP upon completion.
Since Update 19.0 (2016-11-11), the Orbiter's reflection map is visible as the static background image behind the planets on the star chart. The image cannot be zoomed in normally, but through some UI glitching the player can zoom the foreground image out, allowing the user to see the majority of the image.

The Void Fissure and Void Storm World State Window has been split up to negate having to scroll extensively through the list. Void Fissure WSW will remain on the normal Star Chart and Void Storm WSW has been moved to the Railjack Star Chart.
In advance of the official Heart of Deimos update, Orokin Derelict Nodes have found a new home orbiting Mars and no longer require Keys to play! All Keys in your Inventory or in-progress in the Foundry have had their Credit and Resource costs refunded, while Nav Coordinates can be sold for extra Credits (see below)! Once Heart of Deimos launches, the Derelict node will become Deimos, along with two new nodes: The Cambion Drift and Necralisk!
Fixed overlapping UI in the Star Chart when hovering over nodes.
Fixed a script error that could occur when starting a mission from the Star Chart.
Fixed ‘Solar Map Progress’ stat displaying that there are 229 Nodes needing completion when there are in fact only *227. This stat was including the “invisible” Sanctuary Onslaught nodes, which resulted in the unbearable 228/229.
Replaced the Jupiter-Saturn Junction requirement of ‘defeat the Raptor on Europa’ with ‘complete Baal on Europa’. This is due to the Raptor’s boss fight getting increasingly difficult after his re-work, which created frustration for newer players attempting to unlock the Junction.
