The Sawgaw, or Sore Gore, is a bird of prey native to Venus. Physically, they resemble real-life owls, but with the sideways-facing eyes of an eagle. Their beaks are unusually shaped; top half split down the middle to accommodate a protruding lower spike. They regularly perch on the massive Gorgaricus fungi, watching the Orb Vallis floor for any sign of potential predators or Pobber prey.
Subspecies[]
Flossy[]
Possessing vibrant white feathers, the Flossy Sawgaw is perfectly suited to life on the snowy planets. Their feathers are also allegedly far softer than the other subspecies' and are at times hunted for them, but not to the point of extinction.
When captured via Conservation they will reward the following:
Perfect | Good | Bad |
---|---|---|
800 | 600 | 400 |
Alpine Monitor[]
Tougher and stronger, Alpine Monitor Sawgaws will often assume the role of alphas over the other subspecies in the wild. They are highly valued as exotic "pets" by Corpus nobility, though 'prisoners' may be a more appropriate term.
When captured via Conservation they will reward the following:
Perfect | Good | Bad |
---|---|---|
1,200 | 900 | 600 |
Frogmouthed[]
Whilst the Frogmouthed Sawgaw is largely thought to have been extinct for hundreds of years, some do still exist in the wilds across the system, if barely. This rarity has only caused the short-sighted Corpus to hunt them for trophies.
When captured via Conservation they will reward the following:
Perfect | Good | Bad |
---|---|---|
1,800 | 1,350 | 900 |
Notes[]
- When seeing an Alpine Monitor Sawgaw, The Business will mention a "Common" Sawgaw alongside the Flossy variant. This subspecies does not currently exist in-game.
Trivia[]
- Frogmouthed Sawgaws are likely so-called for similar reasons as real-life Frogmouths.
