The Reliquary Drive is a piece of Orokin technology that grants interstellar travel by traveling through the Void.

Two versions of the Drive have been seen; the one used in the Tenno's Railjack, and the one used in the Zariman Ten Zero.

Lore & History[]

During the Rising Tide quest, it is discovered that the Drive powering our Railjack contains a massive, gnarled finger. If the player completed the Chains of Harrow quest first, then The Man in the Wall can be seen sitting atop the Reliquary Drive, waving their hand while putting their index finger down.

In Albrecht Entrati's logs[1], he mentions how the entity that he met in the Void lost its fingers when his daughter closed the Void portal he created. These digits were then retreived and studied by the Orokin.

During the Angels of the Zariman quest, Cavalero asks how many 'big finger-relics are out there', to which Archimedean Yonta responds by saying "Fewer than there used to be. So long as the originals are safely sealed away of course."[2]

Theories and Speculation[]

Seeing as how the Orokin had an entire fleet of Railjacks, and how Yonta mentioned multiple 'originals', the Orokin could have possessed multiple fingers from the Man in the Wall, and perhaps cloned or copied them to supply multiple Reliquary Drives. Due to the Man in the Wall's true size, these fingers would revert back to their natural size, which would explain why they're so unnaturally large. Or perhaps Albrecht's body was large.

Railjack[]

The Drive used to power the Railjack looks similar to a Cryopod. When the Reliquary Key is inserted, numerous Arboriform tendrils can be seen snaking out of the Drive and connecting to ports in the Railjack's floor. After which, the fog in the Drive will clear away, revealing the mummified finger within. When approaching the Drive, the player can hear tapping and whispers from the Man in the Wall coming from it.

Interacting with it will prompt Cephalon Cy to comment on the contents of the Drive, stating that he is unable to see or conceive whats inside, and asks the player to describe it for him.[3]

Zariman Ten Zero[]

Compared to the Railjack's Drive, the Reliquary Drive used in the Zariman is a lot larger and more archaic, with the finger being held up on a pedestal instead of being contained in a sealed pod. Its larger size is most likely due to the size and purpose of the Zariman; it's larger than the average Railjack, and was used to travel to different solar systems, instead of jumping to different planets.

The Drive also has what looks to be a Grineer machine of unknown purpose placed right in front of it, and it appears to be full of Kuva Kuva.

The Worm Queen's early presence aboard the Zariman has allowed her tamper with the ship's Reliquary Drive, providing some of her troops with miniature Kuva Trokars to disrupt the Transference links of the Tenno.

Trivia[]

  • The gilded appearance of the Reliquary Drive in the Zariman matches the same decor used in the Necralisk, home of the Entrati, which could mean that they were the ones who created the Drive for the Zariman.
  • A Reliquary is a container for holy relics.
