Recovery is a hidden mission which can only be accessed when the player is defeated and "harvested" by the Zanuka Hunter. The mission requires the player to collect their confiscated weapons and disabled powers, and escape from the Zanuka Project facility in the Corpus Gas City in Jupiter.
When the player is engaged and defeated by the Zanuka Hunter, their current session will end and automatically transfer to the Recovery mission.
Gameplay[]
The mission starts with the player being strangled on a Warframe dissecting equipment, as shown previously in the PS4 "The Profit" trailer. The Lotus will then disable the equipment and assist the player in escaping the facility. The mission requires the player to locate and retrieve their equipment before heading to extraction.
At the start of the mission, the player's Warframe powers, all weapons, and Sentinel are confiscated and stored in various locations throughout the map, leaving the player with only Unarmed bare fist attacks, though Warframe mods will still take effect. The mission's default level is 15, which increases up to 30 as the player recovers their equipment. While bare fists can dispatch enemies with stealth finishers, the fists are unmodded and thus it is generally recommended to avoid combat altogether, sneak around enemies, and run to retrieve the lost equipment.
Recovered equipment will always be obtained in the same order, regardless of which storage canister is accessed first: primary weapon and Sentinel, secondary weapon, melee weapon, then Warframe powers.
The mission is considered a solo session and thus will not allow squad or friend invites. Successfully completing the mission will clear the Zanuka Hunter's Death Mark.
Failure[]
Should a player die and forfeit or quit during the Recovery mission, they will be returned to the Landing Craft.
The equipment (Warframe, Weapons, and Sentinel) that was captured will be rendered unusable until they redo the Recovery mission. Switching Warframes and/or weapons before trying the mission again will not make any difference; the Warframe and weapons the player had when captured by the Zanuka Hunter will still be the ones to find/use in the Recovery mission.
Trivia[]
- The Recovery mission was introduced in Hotfix 11.7.3 (2014-01-17), and was indirectly mentioned in the build notes.
- This mission was previously known as "Escape".
- When retrying the Recovery mission, appearance and mod config presets of non-captured equipment will affect the appearances and mods of the captured equipment during the mission.
- Captured equipment cannot be sold for credits, with a notification of its capture appearing when attempting to.
- Despite having an innate melee, Garuda/ Garuda Prime will not have access to her Garuda Talons/ Garuda Prime Talons for the entirety of the mission. A storage canister for a melee weapon will spawn, but it will only remove the Unarmed melee.
Bugs[]
- The Recovery mission has a rare chance to increase affinity of an unmastered weapon to level 30. (needs confirmation)
- Donating a captured Kitgun or Zaw will result in the player equipping their weapons from their current loadout at the beginning of the mission. Unequipping weapons from the associated slot will have the player's first weapons be equipped instead.
