A parasitic growth often found growing in mineral deposits.
—In-Game Description

Pustrels are an uncommon Resource that can be found on the Plains of Eidolon via Mining, from red ore veins. They can also be found in Empyrean missions as a possible loot drop from destroying Grineer ships, killing Grineer ground units, or opening storage containers found on Crewships. They are used in constructing the Railjack and its components, as well as Railjack systems. They are a component of all Mk 1 blueprints in the Dojo dock, as well as a frequent component to repair captured weapons and systems and a component for railjack forge use.

Blueprint Type Quantity
(Research)
Railjack Propulsion Starboard Nacelle Component (100)
Mk 1 weapon and Railjack Systems Component (1500)

Notes

  • Total number of Pustrels to be mined from an ore depends on the distance from the Cetus gate, starting from 3 and up to 6 towards Mount Nang. Note that these numbers are the result of fast mining that is made without waiting for perfect heat gauge alignment. The numbers will be higher for perfect mining, however, the time spent for each ore will also be higher whether or not it gives Pustrels. Please refer to Mining page for more detailed calculations.
  • Cannot be obtained from Tusk Thumpers regardless of variant.
  • Joining a Railjack squad for Empyrean missions is a way to gain large amounts of ship materials, including Pustrels. Use recruiting chat to matchmake, as clicking on the node does not automatically do so, yet.
  • When running a Railjack mission to farm Pustrels, it is important to note that all Pustrels, Cubic Diodes , Carbides and Copernics are stored in the Railjack's forge in order to manufacture consumable items (such as Revolite). As such, a member of the squad must go to the Railjack's forge and click the "Refine" button in order for each of the members of the squad to be able to claim the gathered resources, while still in a Railjack mission. You should only do this at the end of a mission as you might still need them to craft things like revolite. Trivia

  • With their design clashing with the more natural look of ores and gems, Pustrels are most likely the result of the Infested boil that crashed into the Plains in Operation: Plague Star.
  • Update 27 introduced the ability to get pustrels (and some other resources) through Empyrean missions in the form of loot drops and successful mission rewards.
