Characteristics

This weapon deals both and damage.

Advantages:

• Tied with Guandao for the third highest base damage of all polearms, behind Lesion and Kesheg.
  • Innate damage – effective against Flesh and Cloned Flesh.
  • High damage – effective against shields.
• Decent critical chance.
• Third highest status chance of all polearms, behind Cassowar and Lesion.
  • Can reach 100% status chance with  Volcanic Edge,  Vicious Frost,  Voltaic Strike,  Virulent Scourge, and  Drifting Contact.
• Stance slot has polarity, matches  Shimmering Blight stance.
• Innate polarity.

Disadvantages:

• Innate damage – less effective against Machinery and Infested.
• No and damage – less effective against armor and health.
• Low critical multiplier.
• Tied with Kesheg and Guandao for the lowest attack speed of all polearms.

Trivia

• Although the Pupacyst's description claims that its tip "rends flesh", it has no damage whatsoever.
  • Similarly, its description refers to Pupacyst as a staff, even though it's classified as a Polearm in-game.
