CODEX

A two-pronged attack; the bone-grafted cocoon at the tip of this staff rends flesh, while the viral mass living within spreads itself into the wounds of each new victim.

The Pupacyst is an Infested polearm that innately deals damage. It can be researched from the Bio Lab in the Dojo.

Characteristics

This weapon deals both and damage.

Advantages:

• Highest base damage of all polearms.
  • Innate damage – effective against Flesh and Cloned Flesh.
  • High damage – effective against shields.
• Decent critical chance.
• Very high status chance.
• Stance slot has polarity, matches  Shimmering Blight stance.
• Innate polarity.

Disadvantages:

• Innate damage – less effective against Machinery and Infested.
• No and damage – less effective against armor and health.
  • Damage cannot be increased with or mods.
• Tied with  Orthos and  Serro for the second lowest critical multiplier of all polearms, after  Cassowar.
• Tied with  Kesheg and  Guandao for the slowest attack speed of all polearms.

Tips

• The Pupacyst is an excellent anti-Corpus weapon as its innate damage increases damage done to the target's health but can also be modded to gain damage to affect health, and damage to devastate shields.
• The slow attack speed can be mitigated by equipping  Fury ( Primed) alongside and  Gladiator Vice.

Trivia

• Although the Pupacyst's description claims that its tip "rends flesh", it has no damage whatsoever.
  • Similarly, its description refers to Pupacyst as a staff, even though it's classified as a Polearm in-game.

Bugs

• Pupacyst gains 7 damage to Spin Attacks for equipping Stance Mods.
  • This damage is affected by Mods.
