Power Carriers are special units found only on Excavation and Defection missions. These units are mostly identical to their standard base units, but visibly carry  Power Cells on their backs. Killing these units will make them drop the Power Cells they carry, allowing Tenno to recover them for use in powering their Excavation machines or Med Towers. The Grineer unit is based on the Lancer, the Corpus on the Crewman, and the Infested on the Mutalist Osprey.

Notes[]

  • A Hellion variant first appeared in the Shifting Sands Tactical Alert, and can currently be found on Excavation missions on Mars. Apart from its ability to use its jetpack and fire missile barrages, this variant also uses a  Lato instead of the standard Grakata when airborne. Unlike normal Hellions, the Hellion Power Carrier prefers to use its Lato when attacking, and will rarely use its missile launchers.
  • Unlike their regular counterparts, Mutalist Osprey Carriers cannot use charge attacks; they fire infested spores instead, like Attack Mutalists.
  • More than one Power Cell can be acquired from each carrier using additional loot retrieval abilities, including those that loot while alive ( Ivara's  Prowl), loot corpse ( Nekros's  Desecrate and  Chesa Kubrow's  Retrieve), loot while petrified ( Atlas's  Ore Gaze), and loot on death ( Hydroid's  Pilfering Swarm,  Khora's  Pilfering Strangledome, and  Wukong's passive).
  • The Mutalist Osprey Carrier was buffed in Update: Specters of the Rail 0.0 (2016-07-08), allowing the enemy to aggressively rush the excavator and now has the ability to fire its weapon in bursts. One of these power carriers can destroy an excavator in just a few shots if left unchecked. The only way they stop firing is if they are captured in  Bastille as well, otherwise they will fire at players and the excavators even if blinded. Also immune to  Slash procs.

Bugs[]

  • Mutalist Osprey Carrier can still attack while being stunned, blinded or sleeping.
