Operation: Belly of the Beast is a limited-time event where Parvos Granum seeks to acquire the Jade Light from Jade's remains. Ordis seeks to stop this and tasks players to fight back on the Ascension game mode.
The event lasted between June 18, 2024 11:30AM ET to July 18, 2024 01:00PM ET on all platforms.
Event Synopsis[]
Shortly after Jade's death in Jade Shadows, Parvos Granum and his forces besiege Stalker's now-abandoned hideout, attempting to harvest the remnants of Jade's energies as Volatile Motes to refine Granum's Jade Light Eximus project. Both the Tenno and Ordis stand in his way, hijacking Granum's operations and disposing the collected motes into the sun, with Stalker, now empowered by the love between him and Jade, potentially assisting his enemies in defending his lover's resting place. Along the way, additional Mote stores across the Origin System have made themselves known, giving the Tenno alternative means of collecting Motes in exchange for fighting scores of Jade Light-empowered troops.
How to Start[]
After completing the Jade Shadows quest, the Ascension game mode will be available on Brutus, Uranus. The Operation will appear on the World State window.
What You Need To Know[]
While Operation: Belly of the Beast is live, players will have access to special nodes that allow them to take on Granum’s forces. In these missions, all Eximus units you will encounter will be Jade Light Eximus, giving them the ability to spawn a ray of light over their target that deals increasing Heat damage the longer the target stays under the beam. You can help Ordis in his mission to stop Parvos in one of three ways:
Operation Variant of Brutus[]
- Main article: Ascension
The new Brutus node on Uranus has its own Operation variant, where Volatile Motes are rewarded alongside Vestigial Motes. Outside of the Eximus modifier and altered unique dialogue between Ordis and Parvos Granum, the mission plays out as a standard Ascension mission, where players are tasked with defending an extraction capsule full of Motes against Corpus forces as it rises to the surface via the elevator, which players must keep powered by throwing Ionic Charges at the capsule. Each Operation mission will award players with 4-6 Volatile Motes (8-10 on Steel Path), which can be traded for rewards via Ordis in the Larunda Relay. The level range of spawned troops is locked at 50 for regular missions, and 150 for Steel Path missions.
Summoning a Sister of Parvos will also earn players an extra 1-3 Volatile Motes (2-4 on Steel Path), as well as her usual drops, potentially granting players anywhere from 4-9 Motes normally or 8-14 Motes on the Steel Path.
Stalker Joins the Fray[]
Visiting Ordis at the Larunda Relay not only allows you to earn Operation Rewards, but also lets you play as Protector Stalker to assist a randomly-selected squad of Tenno undertaking the event node at Brutus. While speaking to Ordis, selecting the “A Shared Purpose?” option will allow you to join another Squad’s mission as Stalker, who will not appear on the Player List, cannot communicate with the other players via Chat, and will not hear Ordis nor Parvos Granum's transmissions. Completing the mission will earn the Stalker-controlling player the standard rewards, but Stalker cannot be revived: if he is downed he will die and the player controlling him will fail the mission, losing the rewards in the process.
Stalker is armed with his original loadout of Dread, Despair, and Hate. Squads selected for Stalker to spawn in will have his signature flickering lights heralding his appearance, with Ordis notifying the squad of his arrival.
Operation Alerts[]
In addition to the Brutus node on Uranus, up to three timed Operation Alerts will appear across the Origin System that will also reward players with 10 Volatile Motes (15 on Steel Path). New alerts will appear at roughly every half hour and last for two hours, can appear across most of the Star Chart (except Open World nodes, Empyrean regions, the Zariman Ten Zero, and all nodes set in Albrecht's Laboratories) and can select from the pool of most Mission types (barring Assassination). As with Brutus, these missions will have increased Jade Light Eximus as the sole Eximus variant, sometimes outnumbering regular troops in the process, and level ranges are locked to 50 or 150 depending on whether the mission is played from the normal Star Chart or the Steel Path Star Chart.
Similar to Steel Path Incursion alerts, any endless missions selected for alerts will have a set number of waves/minutes to survive before players are allowed to extract.
Rewards[]
During the event, Ordis can be found in the Larunda Relay on Mercury in the Navigation Room, where he will trade Volatile Motes for rewards, disposing the Motes to the sun to keep it away from Granum's hands. Players can manually travel to Ordis from the Landing Craft docks, or Fast Travel to him directly. Along with his standard store for purchasing Jade's components, weapon blueprints and Ascension Arcane Enhancements in exchange for Vestigial Motes, Ordis has two separate event reward stores, one for all players and one for players who are part of a Clan:
Commit Volatile Motes[]
Ordis has the following items for sale for all players, with the following purchase restrictions:
- Ephemeras, Low Guardian Chest Plate, Ceti Lacera, and Basmu blueprints all have a purchase limit of 1.
- The Aspirus, Emergent, and Apex Ephemeras are part of event's Community Progress segment, where the total number of Volatile Motes collected across the event are tallied, unlocking each Ephemera for purchase after 30%, 60%, and 90% Community Progress has been reached respectively. The current Community Progress is shown on the World State Window.
- Stance Forma blueprint has a purchase limit of 2.
- Each Arcane has a purchase limit of 42, enough copies to obtain two fully-ranked copies of each Arcane. This is partly to mitigate player burnout.
- To buy all non-Arcane items at least once, players will need 290 Volatile Motes.
- To buy all Arcanes available through the event to max rank once (21 copies), players will need 1,659 Volatile Motes.
- To buy all Arcanes available through the event to max rank twice (all 42 copies), players will need 3,318 Volatile Motes.
Clan Contributions[]
Ordis has the following items for sale for players who are members of a clan, with the following purchase restrictions:
- The Enlightened Hate Skin, Clan Sigils, and Belly of the Beast Emblem all have a purchase limit of 1.
- As with the other Arcanes listed above, each Arcane has a purchase limit of 42.
- To buy all non-Arcane items at least once, players will need 190 Volatile Motes.
- To buy all Arcanes available through the event to max rank once (21 copies), players will need 2,898 Volatile Motes.
- To buy all Arcanes available through the event to max rank twice (42 copies), players will need 5,796 Volatile Motes.
Clan Trophies[]
Like previous Operations, Clans can obtain Trophies based on how many Volatile Motes were collected among all Clan members. Trophies are available in Terracotta, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, and the amount of Volatile Motes required to unlock each tier are as follows:
Clan Tier | Terracotta Trophy | Bronze Trophy | Silver Trophy | Gold Trophy |
---|---|---|---|---|
Ghost | 15 | 30 | 45 | 60 |
Shadow | 45 | 90 | 135 | 180 |
Storm | 150 | 300 | 450 | 600 |
Mountain | 450 | 900 | 1350 | 1800 |
Moon | 1500 | 3000 | 4500 | 6000 |
Notes[]
- Operation Alerts can select Archwing missions as valid options, with the following effects:
- Level Range will be set to 150 on Steel Path, bypassing the normal 50-level increase.
- Since there are no Jade Light Eximus among enemy Archwing units, enemy spawns are unaffected.
- Similarly, Operation Alerts using the Grineer Shipyard tileset will have Lotus periodically refer to incoming Guardsmen as Prosecutors: as no Jade Light variant of the Prosecutor exists the game forces all Guardsmen to spawn as is.
- As a playable character, Stalker lacks any Mods installed on his weapons. This is most evident with Hate using its default Attack Speed.
- Acolytes will not spawn in the event node version of Brutus, even if the squad deliberately waits eight minutes after the mission begins (the maximum delay for an Acolyte to spawn).
- Once the event concludes, Ordis will move to the Drifter's Camp selling Jade and her related equipment for Vestigial Motes.
- The Operation was intended to last until July 18, 2024 11:30AM ET. However, due to an inaccuracy with Ordis' shop timer, the event was extended until 01:00PM ET.
Tips[]
- See Ascension#Tips for tips on the game mode.
- On Operation Alerts that select Defense, Mobile Defense, or Excavation, avoid standing near the defense objects when targeted by the Jade Light Eximus, as their satellite's damage can accumulate and quickly shred them.
Trivia[]
- The name of this event has multiple meanings:
- During the event version of the Ascension mission, Parvos Granum and Ordis argue about utilizing the Volatile Motes, with their dialogue exclusive to this event (by contrast, the regular Ascension mission only has Ordis talking to the players):
- Granum expresses disappointment over Ordis' current state as a Cephalon, contrasting it with Ordan Karris' reputation and deeds against the Orokin, and admonishing Ordis' decision to stop the Corpus from collecting the Volatile Motes for Granum's own use.
- By contrast, Ordis is disgusted at both Granum's admiration of his past persona, and Granum's lust for power making him no better than the Orokin they mutually despise. He also warns Granum that his continued actions against Jade's legacy will have consequences.
Bugs[]
- Attempting to join a session as Stalker may result in more than five players joining in.
