Trivia[]
- In Greek mythology, Lamia was a queen of Lybia turned baby-eating monster (this fate, as with so many others, being a punishment from Hera for having an affair with Zeus). Some classical accounts (and virtually all modern ones since the image was popularized by John Keats' 1819 poem Lamia) depict her as having a snake's tail below the waist. Following this, "Lamia" is also used in various works to describe a generic half-human / half-snake monster.
