Greed. Brutality. Oppression. True stories, all, and the System is full of them. Dreamers? You listening? The System needs you performing your good deeds for the day. Nora needs it. Needs you to act. To change things. Hear the news, Dreamers. Hear it, or be it. Your call. Because in Nora's System, no good act goes unrewarded. This is Nora Night. You're listening to Nightwave.

Nightwave is a pirate radio station hosted by the enigmatic Nora Night. In-game, Nightwave serves as a unique Syndicate system that offers various player rewards such as Mods, Resources, Cosmetic items and more through the completion of various mission challenges.

Apart from the reward system, Nightwave will also feature various stories that further expand upon WARFRAME's lore through their broadcasts.

MechanicsEdit

Nightwave can be accessed from either the Orbiter's Navigation console, or on the Main Menu, through a banner on the lower right corner of the screen. Alternatively, players can interact with the Orbiter's Radio Scanner to the right of the ramp to access Nightwave.

The Nightwave system consists of daily and weekly challenges that players can complete to earn Nightwave Standing, which is used to rank up through Nightwave's 30 levels (15 in the Intermission), with each level requiring ReputationLargeBlack10,000 to level up. Every level attained grants unique rewards, with much rarer rewards being available at much higher levels. Unlike with traditional Syndicate standing, Nightwave Standing is only used to increase Nightwave ranking, and any leftover Standing upon leveling up is carried over to the next level.

Upon reaching the maximum rank, players can prestige and "reset" their rank to 0. Each subsequent rank-up will then only unlock 15 Cred, a special currency to be spent in Cred Offerings. Players can only reach up to rank 30 after prestige for a total of 60 ranks. However, it is not possible during Intermissions.

NightwavePrestige

Upon reaching Rank 30, players can reset their rank by earning additional standing

SeriesEdit

Nightwave's reward system is presented in limited-duration seasons called Series, with each Series featuring its own story and set of level-up rewards themed after its accompanying lore. Each Series lasts for 10 - 11 weeks, and upon completion, all player progress with Nightwave will reset.

A storyless Intermission with reduced duration and ranks and inability to prestige is introduced during long downtime between Series.

ActsEdit

Acts are challenges that players can complete to earn ReputationLargeBlackStanding to increase their rank in Nightwave. They fall under three categories of difficulty: Daily, Weekly, and Elite Weekly.

Daily Challenges are introduced daily, with each lasting 3 days, while 5 Weekly and 2 Elite Weekly Challenges are introduced on a weekly basis, and last for 7 days. Apart from the duration, the different Challenge tiers also offer different levels of difficulty, with Daily having the easiest tasks, and the Elite Weekly having the most difficult ones. All Daily Challenges reward ReputationLargeBlack1,000, Weeklies reward ReputationLargeBlack4,500 and Elite Weeklies reward ReputationLargeBlack7,000.

Standing award during Intermission gives Weeklies ReputationLargeBlack6,000 and Elite Weeklies ReputationLargeBlack9,000.

Any Weekly and Elite Weekly Acts that have not been completed before the next week's rotation will be put on reserve. Once you have have less than 3 current weekly Acts left to complete, any missed Acts from previous weeks will be available and marked as Recovered, three at a time. Once all missed Acts have been completed, they will no longer appear, only to be refreshed in future week rotations.

Introduction to The Wolf of Saturn Six
  • "It's a bad moon, Dreamers. Can you feel it? Hm. From my perch, at Nightwave, I listen at the windows of the wealthy and well-to-do. Ever heard of Saturn Six? News to me too. Turns out the Grineer have a Max-Pen floating some six leagues deep in the gas. No one knew about it... 'cause no one ever busted out. Until now, right? Some Grineer meathead they started calling 'The Wolf'. On account of him taking up howlin' at night. Decrypts say he was a model prisoner, doing the time. Fabbin' bombs with the rest of his con brothers. Apple of the Warden's eye even. But something cracked, and now he's out there on the loose... the so called Wolf of Saturn Six."
  • "Greed. Brutality. Opression. You're listening to Nightwave."
Nightwave Second Diorama
  • "It's late. You still with me, Dreamers? Soon we'll see the sun curve over the Venusian sky. A hot blue taste. What's keeping you up? For me, it's the gap-waves, all abuzz with the doings of a certain big, bad, Wolf. Why didn't he run? Why didn't he hit that Solar Rail as far as it would take him? Instead, he's stalking those soul-bare, money-huggers 'round Jupiter. My birds are sayin' the Corpus net got flipped. A system-wide message from the Wolf. DELIVER GHARN. Where'd a meathead learn a trick like that? And who's Gharn? Baby, you can guess... he's the Warden of Saturn Six! A big man, too well dressed for his station, too well fed for his rank. And he's in the solar wind too... think he knows how the Wolf came to howlin'?"
Nightwave Third Diorama
  • "An ice-night in Neptune, Dreamers. Hmm. Hold yours close and true, and hey... if you're between stops... Nora knows that mood. But our Wolf... he's not alone tonight. Add this with me: the howler breaks out of Saturn Six. But get this... the howling doesn't stop... someone else takes to singing that cruel song. The Wolf knows why, and it called him back to the scene of the crime. Warden Gharn's little side business. Mmm. Sellin' Grineer lemons for a Corpus squeeze. So freedom's got no hold on the Wolf, does it? No. It's the sisters and brothers from the joint that matter to him.. The pack. We both know what happens next... when a Wolf finds its pack... they hunt. "
Nightwave Fourth Diorama
  • "The message read: GHARN IS YOURS. An anonymous gift. I know what this looks like. But the Wolf's too cold for revenge. The Grineer appoint Wardens for life. The Wolf had no choice but to shorten the term. Not payback, just 'never again'. But it was too easy. Days like these, an easy meal means you're taking someone's bait. Alad V's. The devil in a Corpus cloak. Got the Wolf in an all-new prison, baby. Only this one's not made of bars, it's made of chemicals... hmmm...guess we all know someone like that. The whole lot has been transformed into these 'Amalgam Dogs'... his words. Hybridized, juiced on some Sentient strain. No nice way to put it. I think the pack is coming after you, Dreamers."
Nightwave Fifth Diorama
  • "Passing by that Mercury Junction... shimmering hot, tonight. Word on the grid is the devil's got his due... hmm. Should have known. We saw the signs, didn't we? Sure. The Wolf got tough... tougher. But more than that, the Wolf got smart. Got a pack together. Worked the Corpus crypto. He's his own man now. Leavin' no more tracks. Is this the end? Dreamers, I hope so... but if I were you, I'd keep an ear out... 'cause one of these days you just might hear that howl come round your shoulder. This is Nora Night, signing off. Stay deadly, Dreamers."

MechanicsEdit

  • In addition to Acts, reputation can also be earned by finding and capturing three Saturn Six Fugitives that spawn randomly in missions, granting ReputationLargeBlack50 per Capture. If the player waits too long before capturing them, they will die and no reputation will be given but it will still count as them being eliminated. A secondary objective labeled "Fugitives Eliminated" will appear when they spawn in a mission. Fugitive groups can spawn multiple times in a single mission. These enemies appear in the "unaffiliated" category in the codex, as despite being Grineer biologically, they are fugitives.
  • The Wolf of Saturn Six can randomly spawn in most missions similar to Assassins, acting as a field boss. He has a 4% chance to spawn in missions below level 20, and 6% for missions level 20 and above.[1] Defeating him has a chance to reward a component for his signature hammer, the Wolf Sledge Image Wolf Sledge.
  • Toward the end of this series, a Tactical Alert was issued which features an Assassination mission for the Wolf.

Series 2 — The EmissaryEdit

Series 2 began on July 6th, 2019 and ended on October 13th, 2019.

StoryEdit

Within our darkest recesses, there lives a beacon of hope.

Some call him a gift. Others a miracle. He emerged from that vile plague of horrors not just unsullied, but immaculate. In his blood, he bears the power to heal the sick, to revive the fallen, to cure the Grineer of their rot and disease.

This is his story.

Series 2 introduced Arlo, an Infested survivor with a mysterious power to heal others of various sicknesses.

Episodes
The Emissary Introduction
  • "Dreamers, you know 'bout the Infestation, right? Spreads like a month-old salad with genocidal intent. Swallows everything it touches... makin' monsters from meat, or metal, or both. Well, these days it's mostly contained. Spores as old as stone. Derelicts drifting in forgotten orbits. So it was with old Kenga. Somehow exposed and promptly cast out. Woke up on a blessed cage-drop down to Eris. But, should some sad soul catch the grey-vein, well... every culture has its plague dogma. But maybe there's something more to this 'Infestation', something we all missed. Turns out... Kenga didn't find Void in that hell-nest, no. He found a survivor! Little boy. Arlo. Died three years ago, yet there he was. Lost his voice but gained his life... and somehow... saved old Kenga with the slightest touch of his slender hand."
The Emissary Second Diorama
  • "My mother was a cynical woman. Smart as she was cruel. Nora, she said, no disease spreads faster or further than the ones in our head. She was talkin' about ideas. Mine was that old Kenga and his wonder boy would've been splayed out in some bio-trader's lab by now. Or blood-studies for the Grineer command. Dreamers, I was wrong. Kenga's grey-vein was just the beginning. White lung, parasitic liver, clone rot, even bone spurs. Turns out this kid, Arlo, is a healer. So many questions... an idea like that is like a flare dropped in vol-gas. Now the sick and curious are flocking the Rails to see this 'Emissary of Eris'. And who speaks for Arlo the mute? Why old Kenga, of course. No more the outcast, it is he who is spreading the word of Arlo's gift. Even you, Dreamers, may soon hear it."
The Emissary Third Diorama
  • "Whether you're 'bad news first', or 'bad news last', tonight I got you covered 'cuz bad news is all we got. This Emissary's word is spreading fast. A hot fever. Some are going to extremes to prove their devotion. Trying the spores for themselves. And they're finding it too. Some lunatic spikers jacked the Solar-Nav and flagged the Derelict zones for all to see. Old haulers and new hopefuls out there are proving just how smart most people aren't. Yet Kenga's ranks are growing. Arming themselves for the safety and security of our Emissary. Setting the stage for a great assembly to come. Buzz is... buzz is... Arlo will break his silence. 'Til then, Dreamers, check under the bed. A fresh brood is sprouting up along the Rails. And it seems they have the scent of those blessed by the Emissary's touch..."
The Emissary Fourth Diorama
  • "Y'all did see this coming, right, Dreamers? Surely did... but not like this. A grand gathering before the Emissary and his speaker. Standing room only. Bodies pressed to bodies, a great, overheated mass breathing as one. Waiting for their beloved healer-mute to speak. Kenga hushed the crowd. He shed his mask and... there he was. Laughing at them. Sick as the day he was banished. More. His retribution was at hand, born of a virus spreading further and faster than spore and space ever could have. Arlo. And in that stunned silence, Arlo himself made a sound! Not a word, but a stifled gag. A swollen choke, as he opened his mouth. And there it was. Pointed. Black. A tongue... but not. Snaking and bulging and splitting him apart. I looked away then. I had to. But that sound stays with me. Not the sound of human terror, bad as it was, but what came after. The grinding wet, the rattling flutter... the congregation converted in the truest sense. I... Dreamers, you all got your work cut out for you. Though this 'movement' has lost its head, the body still lingers."
The Emissary Fifth Diorama
  • "It's a bad cycle, Dreamers. Arlo's devoted had a party, and you're on cleanup detail. Derelicts are threatening every settlement from Mercury to Eris, and my sources say you're uniquely qualified to contain them. Meanwhile, I've been thinking. Not about Kenga, but about what he actually found down there. Arlo, whatever he was. Some kind of lure? An evolution to bait us in? Is there more to this Infestation than fangs and acid? I know what my mother would say. The people saw what they wanted, heard what they had hoped... and human nature did the rest. Still, I'm hearing rumors. The mass on Eris is in turmoil, and nobody, but nobody wants to check it out. It's seething. And if it's not thinking about this whole ordeal, baby, it's feeling it. This is Nora Night, saying for now... Dreamers... so long and hold on! And listen... Should you happen upon some vacant-eyed little kid someday... whatever you do, don't take 'em home."

MechanicsEdit

  • Devotees can randomly spawn in missions after a Tenno is downed. Functioning as allies, they will appear next to the downed player and revive them. They will remain until they die, providing firing support and continue to revive any downed player and even their Companions.
    • Bleedout will always trigger should the Devotee spawn.
  • Following Episode 3, enemy units called Zealot Heralds and Zealot Proselytizer can spawn randomly in missions or Landscapes. They appear in pairs, and can revive each other when downed. Once both zealots are downed, they disappear and award ReputationLargeBlack50 standing.
    • Following Episode 4, the Zealots are accompanied by a Zealot Baptizer and award ReputationLargeBlack200 standing.
  • Following Episode 4, Infestation Outbreaks are accompanied by Emissary Derelicts. Completing three outbreak missions on a planet rewards one Zealot Derelict Code, which is needed to enter the Derelict. These missions house two new Infested enemies, the Undying Flyer and Leaping Thrasher, and completing the mission awards ReputationLargeBlack1,500 standing.
    • The code can only be obtained once per planet. There are always two Infestation Outbreaks active per day, meaning the two codes can be obtained per day.
  • Following Episode 5, Assassination missions can appear as potential Emissary Derelict missions. The boss of the assassination missions is the Zealoid Prelate, which can drop components for the Pathocyst Pathocyst glaive.

Patch HistoryEdit

Hotfix 25.8.2

The following Acts for future Nightwaves have been changed based on player feedback:

  • The ‘Polarized’ Act has changed from 3 Forma to 1 Forma.
  • The ‘Grove Guardian’ Act has changed from killing 3 Silver Grove Specters to 1.

Hotfix 25.7.7

  • Change Nightwave Silent Eliminator Act description to clarify that the minimum enemy level must be 30+, not the maximum
    • Previous:
      • Complete an Extermination mission with level 30 or higher enemies without triggering alarms
    • New:
      • Complete an Extermination mission with only level 30 or higher enemies without triggering alarms

Hotfix 25.7.6

  • Fixed Nightwave button appearing dark when accessing menus in Operator mode in the Orbiter.
  • Fixed "Complete X to unlock this Act" showing X as broken code for French.

Hotfix 25.7.4

  • Removed Nightwave tips that were showing incorrectly for certain item previews.
  • Fixed Mirage’s Hall of Mirror clone kills not counting towards ‘kills’ for relevant Challenges/Acts.

Update 25.7

  • In order to avoid spoilers, Nightwave Acts that require completing content tied to Quests will now be locked unless you have completed the related Quest. Locked Acts will point you to the Quest required to complete in order to unlock it. The following Acts will see this change:
    • “Don’t Fear The Reaper”, complete Kuva Siphon Missions, will now require The War Within Quest be completed.
    • “Ascendant”, complete Halls of Ascension on Lua, will now require The Second Dream Quest be completed.
    • “Grove Guardian”, kill Silver Grove Specters, will now require The Silver Grove Quest be completed.
  • Catch-up Acts will now appear once you have less than 3 current-weekly Acts left to complete, as opposed to only appearing once you’ve completed the whole current week.
  • Changed Nightwave Act progress / requirement number format (1500 to 1,500).
  • Fixed overlapping Nightwave UI after viewing an item diorama.
  • Fixed flickering issues with the orange screens in Episode 3 of Nightwave: The Emissary.
  • Fixed broken Nightwave UI when skipping through multiple Episode cinematics.
  • Fixed the Trinity Aura Helmet Blueprint appearing twice in the Nightwave Cred Offerings.
  • Fixed Nora Night’s Transmissions appearing when loading between Nightwave episodes.
  • Fixed the “Watch All” option in The Wolf of Saturn Six only playing the first three dioramas.

Hotfix 25.6.3

  • Changed Zealots to be allied to the level's Faction to prevent them clearing objectives.
  • Fixed Zealots not being allied with Infested.
  • Fixed Zealots not storming players on spawn.
  • Fixed text overlap in some languages when viewing restored Nightwave Acts.

Hotfix 25.6.1

  • Changed the Thumper Nightwave Challenge range being only 50 meters, made it a more generous 200 meters to prevent issues as seen here.

Update 25.5

  • Fixed previous Acts being visually marked as ‘Complete’ if the same Act was complete in Series 1. These Acts were also counting towards the 3 Recovered Acts, which prevented other eligible Recovered Acts if you had 3 of these affected Recovered Acts.

Hotfix 25.4.2

  • Changed the Nightwave ‘Silent Exterminator’ Act to clarify its requirement. It now reads:
    • Complete an Extermination mission with level 30 or higher enemies without triggering alarms.
  • Fixed script error in Sanctuary Researcher Nightwave Act script.

Hotfix 25.4.1

  • Fixes towards Nightwave Act progress sometimes resetting / tracking incorrectly when completing a mission.

Update 25.4

  • Eligibility for the Get Clem & Maroo Ayatan Treasure Hunt missions now resets at 00:00 Monday each week (same as Nightwave) instead of an arbitrary 7-day cooldown from whenever you last completed them. This ensures you have a chance to complete the missions within the weekly refresh of Nightwave.
    • Anyone who ran within the last 7 days will have their cooldown reset 7 days from when they ran it, and future resets will be Monday 00:00.
  • In Tuesday’s Hotfix we released a fix for a Nightwave bug that prevented proper tracking of Acts. This is Part 2 of that fix. Today’s fix retroactively provides missing Nightwave Standing to players affected by the issue we fixed Tuesday.

Hotfix 25.3.3 A bug existed in the progress tracking and completion status of 'Recovered' Acts. If a repeat Act appeared, this would cause it to be already-completed immediately when they appear in the UI and prevent players from earning their associated standing reward. We have more fixes coming on this - stay tuned!

Hotfix 25.3.2.1

  • Fixed UI lockup that could occur when viewing Nightwave Rewards and then an Act.

Hotfix 25.3.2

  • Right clicking on Nightwave rewards will now display its preview diorama.
  • Fixed inability to mark Mods dropped from containers in the Void for the "Mark a Resource or Mod" Nightwave Act.
  • Fixed the Glaive Prime Blueprint help text saying it's obtainable from Nightwave Cred Offerings.

Hotfix 25.3.1

  • Updated the Nightwave Act "Transmute 3/3 Mods" to read "Complete 3/3 Transmutations".
  • Fixed crash when returning to the Orbiter after earning Nightwave Affinity.

Nightwave Series 2 Changes

Based on your feedback, Nightwave Series 2 introduces a suite of changes to reduce the time and tension of earning rewards. Some of these went live with Nightwave: Intermission, but let’s refresh our minds:

  • Playing Catch-Up! - We added a way for you to replay missed Acts from previous weeks, in case you have missed them!
  • De-grindification! - Less Weekly and Elite Weekly acts, but still giving the same amount of Standing as you would get from Series 1! In addition, we are looking to front-load Emissary Creds as an earlier reward for participating in the Series!
  • Act Changes! - We have lowered the Time and Wave requirements for some Endless Mission Acts, as well as lowering the cost of Ayatan Statues (this was implemented during Series 1). In addition, we have also removed the ‘with friends’ requirements from all of our Nightwave Acts!
  • New Acts! - Including the most important one... petting your Kubrow or Kavat! We also included some Acts for Kuva missions, Transmuting Mods, K-Drive Races and more!

If you haven't yet, check out our full Dev Workshop on Series 2 Changes: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1092003-dev-workshop-nightwave-changes-for-series-2/

Fixes
  • Fixed Perfect animal Captures not always giving credit for Nightwave Acts when it should.
  • Fixed Nightwave Act progression in the Orbiter causing UI to additionally count all the previously completed Acts in the ship and adding it to the displayed Standing.

Update 25.2

  • Fixed ‘Everything Old is New Again’ and ‘Loyalty’ Nightwave Acts not awarding Standing.
  • Fixed the ‘Silent Eliminator’ Nightwave Act not failing when an enemy detects you, regardless of alarms. Step your stealth game up!

Hotfix 25.1.2
Nightwave: Intermission is now live on all platforms until July 5th at 11:59 PM ET.

What is Nightwave: Intermission?

Nightwave: Intermission is a 15 Rank evergreen reward Intermission! As we work towards content for Series 2, we wanted to release an interim gap to ensure rewards were accessible! Nora Cred can be acquired and used to purchase Nightwave Offerings during this mini-series.

Nightwave: Intermission Rank Rewards:

  1. 100 Nora Creds
  2. 2000 Endo
  3. Robotic Slots
  4. 3 Orokin Cells
  5. Gamma Color Picker
  6. 50 Nora Creds
  7. 10K Kuva
  8. Rift Sigil
  9. 3 Forma Bundle
  10. Orokin Reactor
  11. 50 Nora Creds
  12. 10K Kuva
  13. Orokin Catalyst
  14. Aura Forma
  15. EIDOLON EPHEMERA (not exclusive to this rewards table)

Nightwave: Intermission also brings a chunk of our planned Nightwave changes based on great feedback that were posted in the Dev Workshop, with the exception of ‘New Acts’, as we’re saving those for Series 2! The changes going live include:

  1. Playing Catch-Up: Stored, Missed Acts!
    1. When both Weekly and Elite Weekly Acts are completed for a week, a ‘missed’ Act, 3 at a time, from a previous week will be available to play and complete. Once you have completed all ‘missed’ Acts, they will no longer appear, only to be refreshed in the next week’s rotation.
  2. Degrindification!
    1. Reduced to 5 Weekly Acts and 2 Elite Weekly Acts. While there will be less Acts overall, the rewards for these Acts will increase, so you will earn the same amount of Standing as you would in the previous Episode upon completion.
  3. Changes to Existing Acts!
    1. 'With Clanmates / Friends' Act requirements have been removed completely
    2. Increased Nightwave Standing from Weekly Acts from 3k to 4.5k and Elite Weekly Acts from 5k to 7k.
    3. Reduced required Defense Wave Acts from 40 to 20 Waves.
    4. "Kill Profit Taker with Friends" Act is now just "Kill Profit Taker".
    5. Changed 'Complete 5 Sorties' Elite Weekly to 'Complete 3 Sorties'.
    6. Complete any '60 minute Survival' Act reduced to 30 minutes.
    7. Ayatan Socket requirement for Acts lowered from 5 to 3.
    8. ‘10 perfect Conservations’ reduced to ‘6 different perfect Conservations’.
    9. ‘10 Bounties’ reduced to ‘5 different Bounties’.
    10. Increased the Sanctuary Onslaught Acts from 3 rounds to 8 rounds.
    11. Removed the ‘Sortie with Friends’ Act.
    12. The ‘Hold Your Breath’ Act has been changed to ‘Survive over 30 minutes in a Kuva Survival’.
  4. Changed Nightwave Standing for Weekly Acts from 4.5k to 6k and Elite Weekly Acts from 7k to 9k.
    1. This Standing increase is just for Intermission, in order to allow all 15 Ranks to be achievable in the given limited time duration. Nightwave: Season 2 will have the original change.

A note as to why:

As we count the days until TennoCon 2019, it’s evident that our ambitious goals for this year are needing all hands on deck, literally. Meaning that our plan to launch Nightwave Season 2 before TennoCon is going to be tight - and we don't want the downtime to be too long.

Thanks for your patience - Dreamers.

Ah, so up until Tennocon. Nice. Do we get 15 creds when we perstiege like last time?

Very good question!

There is no Prestige past Rank 15 in Intermission. Intermission is short, sweet, and simply an interim gap.

Series 2 will have Rank Prestige back.
