  • you would probably agree that volt isn't powerful like the other warframes.

the only problem is that you discounted the unique playing style that volt has. just look at my comment

    • his powers do not support such a playstyle.

Shock technically does, but the duration doesn't last long enough, and killing trash mobs is already a challenge.

Overload.... i admit, it's okay if you coordinate with teammates, and they take the opportunity to shoot enemies while Volt hides in a corner casting Overload..... but many other frames CC far better than this.

if these powers aren't going to kill (which they don't), then Volt would then literally need to be the king of CC and Utility. he would need to impart stuns and knockdowns and etc that approach borderline gamebreaking so that his powers actually bring something to the table.

i never felt Volt had a playstyle, even back in January, fighting lv5-15 enemies. because even then, those powers were subpar compared to every other frame. got the job done sort've, but.... other frames would accomplish the same task faster, using less energy, and exposing themselves to enemies less.

i guess we can say Volt isn't "bad", the other frames, are simply leagues more effective. but that's kind've the same thing.

Actually, I'm thinking about the "Alternative to gunplay" line that DE has written for Volt.

Shock: Almost never used by me

I like to use this for stripping shields from foes, but it still needs GUNS to finish the target off.

      RELIABLE alternative to gunplay? No

      Speed: Used regularly

Whenever you need to run away or charge an enemy... Still needs a good GUN to maximize effectiveness (Especially if running away)

      RELIABLE alternative to gunplay? No

      Electric Shielding: Used regularly

Cover that can be shot through with a damage boost... Shot through with GUNS, that is.

RELIABLE alternative to gunplay? Definitely not

Overload: Used regularly, but not with good results

The range on it isn't very good for an ult, I usually wind up with one or two trash mobs firing on me because they walked half a meter out of range, and it still leaves you vunerable to shots...

      RELIABLE alternative to gunplay? No.

So DE seems to have lied to us when they say "Alternative to gunplay".

    • it certainly was a lie. Volt has been basically the same way he is now, always. Overload got a damage buff at one time, but you you wouldn't notice when you're using it.

Volt has been exactly the same (other than Speed being made awesome, and then less trolly), since back then in January. the enemies have expanded over time to include more mission types and 'difficulties', yet Volt hasn't ever changed. even back with ~lv5 enemies, he was still garbage compared to the other frame choices. which is sad.

      one day, Volt. one day.
