  • I see you editing a lot of stuff ranging from page formatting to menial tasks such as adding info that nobody really feels like doing or stuff that is missing. Just wanted to let you know, good to have you on board!

    • Thanks! Really appreciate the compliment. Always a pleasure to improve and learn more about the wiki. I mean, someone has to do it, specially with the free time I have and the never ending content drought :P.

  • Hey, I saw you changed Kuva Lich page to tab view, as you did to many other pages before it.

May I ask why? This makes Wiki unsearchable via Ctrl+F and unlinkable via Anchors, like https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Kuva_Lich#Progenitor_Warframe

IMO, this is bad design and needs to be reverted, on most pages where it was used.

  • I saw that you added the rank 40 chart to Affinity. I want to discuss rank 40 weapons.

To get to rank 30, you need 450,000 affinity for a weapon.

    To get to rank 32, wouldn't you need 450,000 (rank 30) + forma + 512,000 (rank 32) = 962,000 and rank 34: 450,000 + forma + 512,000 + forma + 578,000 = 1,540,000 ... ?

You can't get to rank 32 without forma. You need to accumulate the lower ranks' affinity just to get back to 30, 32, ... You need to forma five times.

Put another way, you have to earn Rank 0-30, 0-32, 0-34, 0-36, 0-38, and 0-40 to have a rank 40 weapon. Each two ranks requires a forma. And each forma requires the lower ranks be earned again.

    I argue

    32 450000 + forma + 512000 = 962000

    Or with implicit formas

    32 450000 + 512000 = 962000

    34 450000 + 512000 + 578000 = 1540000

    36 450000 + 512000 + 578000 + 648000 = 2188000

    38 450000 + 512000 + 578000 + 648000 + 722000 = 2910000

    40 450000 + 512000 + 578000 + 648000 + 722000 + 800000 = 3710000

That is the "Cumulative Affinity Requirement" to get to rank 40. There is no way to get to rank 40 without earning 3,710,000 affinity.

Put another way, no one would say it only took 450,000 affinity to have a weapon with one forma. They would say it took 900,000 affinity. I'm saying the same thing except accounting for the higher levels.

Am I wrong? What do others say?

    Thanks for your work.

    -Mike

    • That thinking is technically not wrong, the table does say "Cumulative" after all. But one could argue cumulative refers to the amount of affinity needed per Forma cycle, not grand total. Or rather that a per-Forma-cycle definition would be more useful and easier to understand than a grand-total definition.

I think the simplest solution is just a change in title. I.e. instead of "Cumulative Affinity Requirements" it should maybe say "Total Affinity from Rank 0 Requirements". An actual cumulative total chart might cause confusion and be a presentation of info that could be easily misinterpreted.

        Loading editor
    • For now, I changed the title of the chart to better reflect what it is actually showcasing. You are right with the fact that the cumulative affinity needed is more than what's shown due to the fact you have Forma those weapons and re-level them up multiple times.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe in the future I'll look into adding more info on the true cumulative affinity needed.

        Loading editor
    • They would say it took 900,000 affinity. [...] Am I wrong?

On this point, yes. No one really talks about how much it took in total to level a weapon to a certain forma-state. How much affinity you need to collect, to get to max rank in a single mission is more relevant, however.

Also the growth of Affinity required per level is more easily gleaned from the current values. Meanwhile what you propose has little implications and can easily be calculated from provided values. The other way around theoretically too, practically not.

So yeah, I'm in favor of keeping current values and not adding any additional ones, as they are likely to just confuse people. Personally I would just integrate them into the 0-30 table and make it 0-40 with a note that only few exceptions can pass 30 that mark

  • Hey,

I've removed the table you added about bonus stats because it was only true for Zetki variants (look at the individual weapon tables to see which variant comes with which boost).

I'm not sure if I missunderstood something about the utility of this table, or if you just didn't realize other variants have other bonus, so feel free to correct me if this table is actually relevant :D

  • Hey Scientia, Happy New Year! I noticed a little while ago you began work on Lua-fying t:StanceCombosV2. I just wanted to update you on a few stance related things:

    1. After extensive talks in the Discord, myself and some other editors decided to slightly redesign both the StanceV2 table and Combo Icons. What this entailed was to put individual combo icons into their own invisible columns for a more aesthetic and easier to track vertical line-up. Combo icons would also be normalized to have nothing above them, so all proc icons would be below, next to the damage multipliers and hit counts (this creates a nice horizontal line-up as well). Both CI and CI2 would also be combined into one template to make editing easier. Also, common button presses ((Up), (Up + Block), and (Block)), as well as text prompts would be moved out of the Button Combination column and into the Combo Name column under the name so the Button Combo column can have more room for icons. Overall this makes a more evenly spaced, and easier to read table and combo icons.
    2. Some of these changes were pretty much impossible in simple HTML (invisible cols mostly), so over the past couple of days I worked on moving the new StanceV2 table and Combo Icons into Module:Stances. As far as I can tell it works perfectly fine in generating both a table for a stance and filling it with its appropriate icons.
    3. Obviously a Module:Stances/data has also been created, for testing purposes. As of now it only has data for Mod TT 20pxCleaving Whirlwind, shared data for Heavy Blade stances, and some miscellaneous data for the table's legend. The way I formatted the data is what made most sense to me and what would be easiest to read for m:Stances without being too long, but if you feel there is a better way to format this data let me know. The only step left really is to transfer over stance data into this module, which is a large project. In the end though I think it will be worth it.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. If you would like to see an example of what the new table and combo icon design looks like you can visit my test page. Not sure how long that page will have that example on it though, so here's the invoke that can be used:

    • Okay, good. Just wanted to make sure, thanks for clarifying. m:Stances can always be improved for efficiency, but as far as I can tell it is free of bugs, which is what I meant by "completed". After looking through your module they do seem to be pretty similar though, which is good because it tells me we have the same means to our goal in mind. Though my code is severely lacking on commenting :P That's a bad habit of mine I need to break.

    • I mean the code in M:Stances is fairly readable in my opinion and speaks for itself ever since you have standardized the combo icon styling. Usually writing elegant code eliminates the need for commenting, though some comments for function behavior would be nice. Anyways, the next steps would be to inform wiki contributors and start moving over data.

  • Hey hi! I'm collecting audio files for the Rising Tides/Cephalon Cy pages, but am relatively inexperienced with how Wikia's templates work, along with where to upload files. Would you mind giving me some pointers?

Also, thank you for your work on the transcript/quote pages, it's helped me immensely with a video I'm making!

    • Coolio, I've got to head off to do some other work for now but I'll definitely continue uploading audio files!

  • "people hardly update it since it is at bottom of page"

By that logic, no patch histories would ever be updated, since they're all at the bottom of their respective pages.

  • Umm... your latest revision to the Stalker page added a duplicate line... I don't understand the purpose of it.

      Loading editor
    • Just took a look at it and I couldn't see the duplicate line problem. I did fix some duplicate patch history notes however since my last visit.

        Loading editor
    • I think they're referring to the Update 7.11 hotfix line in yellow there. Not sure why but it was in the wrong spot chronologically, which I assume means that when you were looking through the history and saw 7.11 not in between 7.8 and 9.6 you thought it was missing and added it there, not knowing it was a duplicate.

        Loading editor
    • Ah gotcha. That's probably what happened as I was breezing through the patch notes.

        Loading editor
    • So that's what happened, anyways, doesn't hurt to just do a quick search, that's what I did because I was wondering how long ago did the Stalker have a Paris and found 2 hits...
