Mergoo are odd, bird-like creatures native to the Plains of Eidolon on Earth. They loosely resemble prehistoric birds. They lack frontal wings, instead possessing an extra set of hind limbs giving them the appearance of a small feathery reptile equipped with an Archwing. They are carnivorous, hunting bugs and small fish, which they catch with incredible speed and precision.

As the name suggests, Coastal Mergoo are commonly found around oceans and large bodies of water. It is considered extremely bad luck to kill one, as they can alert fishermen by squawking when marine predators, such as Lanx, are present.

Woodland Mergoo[]
Adapted to life away from shores, these mergoo possess a green coat to blend in with their surroundings. Woodland Mergoo often know the locations of ant hills and grub colonies, making them just as important to hunters as their cousins are.

Splendid Mergoo[]
Befitting their title, Splendid Mergoo sport a wonderful array of colors, causing Grineer troops to hunt them to near extinction. Curiously, they also interbreed regularly with other mergoo species, likely contributing to their rarity.
