For the... huh... For my brothers.
—Kahl-175

Kahl-175 is a IconGrineerOn Grineer Lancer introduced in The New War. Formerly in service to the Grineer Queens directly under Councilor Vay Hek, he was captured into IconNarmer Narmer service but escapes in Veilbreaker, becoming a defector as he now fights for all of his Grineer brothers. He allies with the TennoIcon Tenno and Daughter EntratiIcon Entrati in their shared goal of defeating their new enemy and rescuing any veiled - including IconCorpusOn Corpus, OstronSigil Ostron, SolarisUnited1 Solaris United - while forming GarrisonIcon Kahl's Garrison.

Lore[]

The New War[]

Kahl is one of many Grineer soldiers that were fighting against the invading Sentients in the Plains of Eidolon and part of Councilor Vay Hek's "Eight Squad."

A Tusk Firbolg crashes after being knocked out by a Sentient fighter, and Kahl picks up a Grakata Grakata from a dead Lancer from the crashed Firbolg. Vay Hek orders Kahl to regroup at his beacon. When he arrives at the beacon, a Tusk Bolkor crashes right in front of him, then a Tusk Dargyn gets shot out of the sky and crashes. Kahl goes to help the Dargyn Pilot, fighting past several Sentients, but the Pilot is already dead when he arrives. Kahl then asks what his mission is now.

Vay Hek tells Kahl that there is no mission, as even going near the Condrix would only get him eaten alive, but Kahl has an idea: to feed the Condrix a bomb. Vay Hek agrees with his idea, and orders Kahl to hurry and find an explosive with a high enough yield to destroy the Condrix. Kahl heads to a mining camp to retrieve the "Big Bomb," when he spots Sentient Searches, and successfully sneaks past them. He then enters a tent where the bomb is, picks it up and hesitates, then decides to sacrifice himself for the Queens. He exits the tent and is immediately blown away by an exploding Tusk Thumper.

Kahl wakes up and takes off his mask, only to spot a Sentient killing nearby Grineer Lancers. He quickly looks around and notices a fallen RhinoIcon272 Rhino, crawls up to the body and grabs his weapon, shooting and killing the Sentient just in time. He stands up, spits to the side and pumps his newly acquired CorinthPrime Corinth Prime, and heads to the Condrix to "feed" it the explosive. He reaches the Condrix, collapses from exhaustion, and then activates the bomb. As he begins to declare his speech for the Queens, he abruptly pauses and instead declares for his brothers.

Kahl is awoken by a red light, and realizes that the bomb didn't detonate and he is somehow still alive. He looks up, horrified, as Erra stands in front of him, telling him to not be afraid.

Veilbreaker[]

Who help Grineer today? Not Queens. Not Vay Hek. Only Tenno and Blue Girl help brothers. Other Brothers still have Veil. So Kahl break. This camp little. But soon, it get big. You see. Kahl not afraid. And now Kahl not alone.
—Kahl-175

Kahl was revealed to have survived, forced into IconNarmer Narmer service. However, he breaks from control of his Narmer Veil in a Murex over Deimos and, remembering everything, decides to resume his fight. He sends out a distress beacon which is picked up by Daughter, who then relays the signal to the Tenno in a response effort, only to be shocked to find out that its owner is a "vat rat" Grineer. Referred to by Kahl as "Blue Girl", she reluctantly guides him to free his brothers and any other veiled (be they Corpus, Ostron, or Solaris United) in exchange for information on Narmer's new leader Pazuul, and the heroic Lancer ultimately escapes aboard a Tenno Railjack.

Kahl reveals that he no longer fights for the Grineer Queens or Councilor Vay Hek, as they had no involvement in his escape and believes they had abandoned him. Taking refuge in the Drifter's Camp, Kahl allies with the Tenno - being the ones who responded to his distress signal despite his being Grineer - and forms Kahl's Garrison. As Kahl fights against Narmer, he fashions himself with a self-made Veilbreaker device created out of an EMP ram to forcibly remove veils without killing the enthralled.

Gameplay[]

Kahl-175 is a playable character during The New War, Veilbreaker, and Break Narmer.

  • Kahl has 1,000 health and no shields.
    • In The New War, enemies drop Health Orbs, which heal for the usual amount of 100 health. In Veilbreaker, enemies no longer drop health orbs and his health instead regenerates after not being damaged for a short time.
  • Kahl's weaponry changes over the course of his gameplay:
    • His primary weapon is a Grakata Grakata, which has 90 Magazine Capacity instead of the usual 60, and reloads in one second, equivalent to having 140% bonus reload speed applied.
    • In The New War, his melee weapon is a Machete Machete. In Veilbreaker, he has a Slaytra Slaytra. Kahl is capable of performing stealth finishers and slam attacks with his melee.
    • In The New War, Kahl replaces his Grakata for a CorinthPrime Corinth Prime.
    • In Break Narmer's Junk Run and Prison Break, Kahl can find the following weapons from fallen Grineer corpses: Ogris Ogris, Ignis Ignis, Tonkor Tonkor, Grinlok Grinlok, JatKittag Jat Kittag, or "Gorvakk" wasn't found in Module:Weapons/data (a unique shotgun exclusive to Break Narmer).
    • In Veilbreaker and Break Narmer's Prison Break, Kahl can trade his Grakata for a "Bolkor" Grattler Grattler. This version has 60 Magazine Capacity instead of the usual 30, and has Archwing recharging ammo despite being used like an atmospheric Arch-gun.
    • In Break Narmer's Sneaky Sabotage, Kahl is instructed to not go with a gun. After the sabotage, he acquires an Exergis Exergis.
    • In Break Narmer's Junk Run, Kahl can trade his Grakata for a "Salvaged" KuvaAyanga Kuva Ayanga. This version has 4 Magazine Capacity instead of the usual 33, but has significantly faster Reload Speed and does not stagger Kahl.
  • Kahl has three "abilities":
    • His first ability throws a incendiary grenade. He can carry up to a maximum of four and are replenished from enemy drops.
    • His second ability deploys a blunt. It has a 3 second cooldown and deploying a new blunt will destroy the oldest one. The blunt can also serve as a mobility aid as Kahl can climb over it, allowing him to access areas just out of reach, but does not block area of effect attacks which comprise of most enemy attacks in Veilbreaker and Break Narmer missions.
    • Kahl gains a third ability dubbed Veilbreaker in Break Narmer, throwing a shock grenade that stuns enemies and veiled NPCs. Stunned veiled can be interacted with to remove their veils in a quick-time event (melee button, default E ). The shock grenade has an 8 second cooldown.
      • Shock grenades will very briefly stun most enemies when hit, even the Narmer Scyto Raknoid in Sneaky Sabotage and most importantly Narmer Deacons, who will be stunned for several seconds when in the radius or hit directly. The Narmer Thumper in Junk Run is not affected however.
  • Kahl can crouch and roll, but cannot slide, double jump, or bullet jump.
    • In The New War, Kahl performs a standard roll. In Veilbreaker and Break Narmer, the roll is replaced by a shoulder tackle.
  • In The New War, Kahl can use ammo dispensers to replenish ammunition for his weapons and grenades. In Veilbreaker and Break Narmer, his weapons have infinite Ammo Maximum and enemies only drop grenades.
  • In Veilbreaker and Break Narmer, Kahl gains the ability to enter Command Mode (waypoint button, default G ):
    • Veilbreaker and Break Narmer's Junk Run and Prison Break:
      • Give Command (fire button, default Left Click ): Kahl gains allied units that will follow his orders.
        • If targeting an objective, such as debris blocking the way, one of his units will place a detonation charge on it to blow it up.
        • If targeting an enemy, his units will focus their fire.
        • If targeting a surface, his units will move there and hold position.
        • If targeting an ally in Bleedout, one of his units will revive them.
      • Regroup (zoom button, default Right Click ): Allied units will terminate any given commands and resume following Kahl.
    • Break Narmer's Sneaky Sabotage:
      • Order Strike (fire button, default Left Click ): Kahl orders an orbital strike on a location, dealing damage in a large radius and can kill Narmer Deacons who are otherwise normally immune to Kahl's attacks. Has a 10 second cooldown.
  • In Veilbreaker and Break Narmer's Junk Run and Prison Break, Kahl acquires a Hellion jetpack, which allows him to hover and maneuver in the air (jump button, default tap and hold Space  in midair). The Hellion jetpack has a fuel gauge that recharges when not in use.

  • Tracking where Kahl had gone by noting terrain figures, there's a visible crater with a small puddle of what appears to be blood, and knocked down Condrix where Kahl had ended his segment.
  • If damage numbers are enabled, it appears that Kahl-175's equipment is the same as the versions usable for Warframes while being fully unmodded.
  • The paint scheme used by Kahl-175 and his unit is unique, featuring a reflective silver secondary color not shared with any other Lancer type.
  • The Grineer Empire appear to be aware of Kahl's defection, with the still-loyal Ven'kra Tel warning him the Queens might paint him as a target and she could be executed just for talking to him.
  • Despite sharing ideals and sending rescued Grineer defectors over to SteelMeridianSigil Steel Meridian, Kahl explains to Daughter that he has no intentions of joining up with them, stating Cressa Tal's forces are "too big" and prefers low-profile stealth and guerrilla tactics to fight Narmer.
  • In Archon Hunt Survival, the Lotus refers to Kahl as the "lone Tenno operative" covertly operating behind the scenes.
  • Kahl-175 can encounter a Kahl-180 during Veilbreaker when first obtaining the Hellion Pack, stating that they were from the 'same tube'.
  • Kahl-175 has a strong attachment to his fellow Grineer, so strong as to defy his allegiance to the Queens for a moment just before his attempted self sacrifice, and which becomes the basis of his ultimate defection upon realizing the Queens didn't attempt to save him from the Sentients.
  • Kahl-175 is able to kill veiled Grineer during Veilbreaker missions rather than saving them, but he shows no changes over killing regular enemies.

Patch History[]

Update 34.0 (2023-10-18)

Break Narmer Mission Improvements

Kahl’s missions are a great way to earn an extra Archon Shard every week, but there is no denying that playing the same 3 Break Narmer missions can get repetitive. After looking at Community feedback and reflecting on our own experiences after almost a year of this content being available, we’ve prepared some Quality of Life changes and a few ways to spice up these familiar missions.

General Kahl-ity of Life Changes:

  • Kahl see more!
    • Kahl now has Loot Radar and Enemy Radar. This will allow you to plan your offensive, and find key pick-ups to complete your Stock challenges faster!
  • Kahl go fast!
    • Kahl’s max speed and overall walking speed have been increased.
  • Kahl earn stock!
    • Added Stock Pickups to Break Narmer missions. 8 to 12 Stock Pickups will spawn per mission, offering 2 Stock each. These will appear on your Loot Radar and will respawn if the mission is replayed. Extraction is required to earn the picked-up Stock.

Expanding Kahl’s Garrison:
Kahl will now find additional weapons next to his fallen Brothers as a way to add more variety to his overall gameplay. Three different weapons will spawn randomly each time you play!

In Junk Run* and Prison Break missions, you can find the following:

  • Ogris
  • Gorvakk (new shotgun found only in Break Narmer missions!)
  • Ignis
  • Tonkor
  • Grinlok
  • Jat Kittag

*Once Kahl equips the Salvaged Kuva Ayanga in the Junk Run mission, these optional weapons are removed. Once the Tusk Thumper has been defeated, they will respawn.

As for Sneaky Sabotage, since this mission has specific weapon restrictions, there are no plans to offer additional weapons to this mission at this time.
