Hard Engage is a rare MOA mod allowing the MOA to target enemies within 10m with melee attacks, kicking them to deal  Impact damage. This mod is acquired by building a Nychus-Model MOA.

Notes

• At close range, the MOA will always prefer melee attacks over shooting the equipped weapon.
• Melee attacks have a decent status chance.
  • Can be increased by equipping status chance-increasing mods on the MOA's equipped weapon.
• Melee attacks have no (or a very low) base critical chance.
  • Can achieve critical hits when the MOA is buffed by  Covenant.
• Melee attacks trigger  Seismic Bond and  Vicious Bond, unlike  Blast Shield.
•  Shivering Contagion does not apply to melee attacks.
• Hard Engage is NOT affected by the MOA's equipped weapon stats, including any innate elements. Hard Engage is, however, affected by most of the weapon's equipped mods.
  • The weapon's type (such as Shotgun, Rifle, or Pistol) will determine which mods are available.
  • Multishot, Fire Rate, Reload, and Ammo mods have no effect, due to not applying to melee attacks.
  • Mods that increase Impact damage, such as  Full Contact, will increase the damage dealt.
  • ( Prime)  Sweeper may be a good candidate; like Hard Engage, it primarily deals Impact damage, has usable Status Chance, and poor Critical stats, and can utilize multiple +Damage mods (( Primed)  Point Blank,  Vicious Spread, and  Blaze), since multishot does not apply.
  • Hard Engage can proc modded elements from the MOA's equipped weapon via  Manifold Bond. The status chance seems to be Hard Engage's hidden status chance.

Trivia

• Currently the only rare/non-common mod exclusive to MOAs.
  • It is unknown if this is for any particular reason.
  • In addition, as one of the mods with a max rank of 5, it ends up costing significantly more to max, compared to other MOA mods (though still on the low-end overall).
