Plasma Grenades are grenades that are used occasionally against players by many different enemies. Although not as lethal as other weapons, they can force a player out from hiding behind obstacles, stop shields from recharging for a moment, or simply cause disorientation to the enemies advantage.
Enemies will show that they are about to throw a grenade while hiding behind cover by periodically peeking around the corner a couple times, to safely throw it before going back behind cover. They can also deliberately throw the grenade directly at player's feet out in the open in an attempt to stop the player for a few moments, often following it up by attacking with their weapon.
Characteristics
- After sticking onto a surface, it will explode in two seconds and deals Blast damage within 10 meters.
- Damage scales with enemy level.
- Can latch/stick onto a player, which will guarantee heavy damage.
- Plasma Grenades cannot be removed via Rolling.
- Causes a blue explosion during detonations
Notes
- Enemies known to use plasma grenades are mostly variants of Crewmen, Lancers, and Troopers, such as Corrupted, Elite, and location variants such as Arid or Drekar Grineer units.
- The Jackal is capable of launching a volley of plasma grenades, saturating a large area with multiple powerful explosions.
- Has a delay before exploding, with a rapid beeping sound before detonation.
- Has a fairly small area of effect.
- Despite the Grineer grenades (left side of image) and Corpus grenades (right side of image) having different designs, they function exactly the same.
Trivia
- Plasma grenades behave similarly to those used in the Halo series, which also stick to targets (or terrain) on contact and are capable of dealing serious damage in a small area.
- Plasma grenades seems to be a close family counterpart to Penta's explosive.
