Excavators are special Excavation mission objectives. Players must protect them and supply them with power via 
Power Cells dropped from Power Carriers in order to progress in the mission.
Excavators produce Cryotic upon finishing excavation or getting destroyed in quantities of up to 100 if the Excavator was not destroyed. The amount of Cryotic supplied by a destroyed reactor is equal to how many seconds it was active before being destroyed.
Plugging in a Power Cell into an excavator instantly replenishes its Shields.
Bugs
Rarely, when triggered will never drop down to the surface, this can cause the mission to be impossible to complete if it occurred at the only available site.
