Swordsmanship

ExcaliburIcon272 Excalibur has improved mastery in the Tenno art of the blade, receiving +10% attack speed and +10% damage bonuses for melee attacks while wielding the following weapons:

Excalibur UmbraIcon272 Excalibur Umbra exhibits sentience, allowing him to remain active in combat even when a player uses Operator form, acting similarly to a Specter.

  • Umbra can receive damage and healing in his specter form. Health and shields lost in his specter form will not be restored upon returning to Umbra.
  • Umbra can use any equipped weapon and most abilities, which will take into account of any mods installed. Neither of these actions will consume ammunition nor energy, however.
  • When enemies come within 3 meters of Umbra, he will automatically switch to the equipped melee weapon.
    • If no melee weapon is equipped, Umbra will not attack enemies who approach him, but will still cast abilities.
  • Once all of Umbra's health is depleted, he will stop moving or attacking.
    • The player does not die or lose a revive, however, if Umbra's health is depleted.
  • If Umbra falls down a bottomless pit while in Specter mode, he will not be teleported back and will remain missing until players return to Warframe mode.

  • Excalibur dashes between enemies within a cone 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 meters long and cuts them down with his Exalted Blade. Each strike inflicts 100 / 125 / 200 / 250 base damage.
  • Damage is affected by Ability Strength, the Melee Combo Counter and some mods.
  • Excalibur's health and shields are immune to damage while dashing.
  • Airborne enemies, such as Hellions and Ospreys, can also be targeted.
  • If there are no enemies within its targeting area, Slash Dash will make Excalibur dash forward in the direction of aim, allowing it to be used as a mobility aid when reaching high places.
  • When ExaltedBlade130xDark Exalted Blade is active, Slash Dash will receive the following benefits:
    • Slash Dash will receive a 10% bonus to its base damage from Excalibur's passive.
      • This additional damage bonus stacks with the aforementioned bonus received when using specific melee weapons.
    • Slash Dash hits will add to Exalted Blade's Melee Combo Counter.
    • Energy waves will be released when an enemy is hit by Slash Dash.
      • The energy waves and Exalted Blade are considered separate entities and will deal damage separately.
      • The waves behave identically to those of ExaltedBlade130xDark Exalted Blade.
      • Waves will hit both the targeted enemy and all enemies behind it.
      • Waves are affected by mods on both the equipped melee weapon and on EWExaltedBlade Exalted Blade.
      • The energy waves are able to deal critical hits and status effects.
        • Critical and status performances are affected by equipped critical chance and damage mods, status chance mods, and Mod TT 20pxChromatic Blade.
      • Channeling will only affect the wave's damage and not Slash Dash's damage.
  • Can be used to pass through Laser Barriers unharmed in most cases.
  • Can be used while jumping, sliding, forward flipping, wall running or clinging to a wall.
  • Slash Dash can damage enemies across the Rift Plane.
  • Slash Dash is affected by and can trigger Warframe Arcanes.

Tips & Tricks
  • Slash Dash will hit through a Grineer Shield Lancer's Shield.
  • Can be used to break Corpus ship windows and pass through laser doors mostly unharmed.
  • Perfect for medium-distance traveling.
  • With the proper mods this is one of the most damage-efficient AoE abilities in the game, doing massive damage to multiple targets for very little cost.
  • Invulnerability allows players to deal with enemies by repeatedly casting Slash Dash without fear of damage or status proc effects.
  • Casting Slash Dash while Exalted Blade is active will allow players to increase the amount of damage they deal and hit a larger amount of enemies without having to build for range.

Bugs
  • It is possible to get stuck on an enemy during the duration of the ability, and in most cases the enemy will not take damage.

  • Excalibur summons 5 / 7 / 10 / 12 javelins against enemies within a radius of 15 / 18 / 22 / 25 meters. Excalibur then drives his weapon into the ground, launching the javelins into their targets. Each javelin inflicts 500 / 650 / 800 / 1000 damage.
    • Damage is distributed evenly between Impact b Impact, Puncture b Puncture and Slash b Slash.
    • Damage is affected by Ability Strength, while the number of javelins is not.
    • Enemies that survive the damage are temporarily stunned.
    • Radius is affected by Ability Range.
    • While javelins do not Punch Through objects or enemies, their striking position is optimized to ensure a successful hit on their targets when they spawn. This allows the javelins to bypass obstacles in the environment including walls, cover, and Grineer Shield Lancer shields.
    • Radial Javelin will not target enemies behind obstacles in the environment unless Excalibur has line of sight, or unless the enemy is aware of Excalibur within a short period of time (e.g., an enemy that spots Excalibur and runs out of view can still be targeted by Radial Javelin if the ability is used within a small time frame).
  • Each javelin appears as an ethereal DESkana Skana. Excalibur Prime and Excalibur Umbra's javelins appear as ethereal SkanaPrime Skana Primes.
  • Has a cast time of ~1 second and a post-cast animation delay of ~2.5 seconds.
  • Javelins can damage enemies across the Rift Plane.

Tips & Tricks
  • Due to Exalted Blade's waves being able to unlimitedly punch through up to its maximum range, Exalted Blade is well suited to taking out hordes of enemies, especially if they are huddled together.
    • Furthermore, Exalted Blade can be used to deal with enemies while in cover without requiring Punch Through mods.
  • The innate slide attack blind provides a cheaper alternative to Radial Blind, albeit with greatly reduced duration and range.
    • Allows players to blind enemies and quickly deal with them without being delayed by finisher animations.
  • Combined with MagIcon272 Mag's Magnetize130xDark Magnetize, the sword waves can be redirected to hit the enemies inside multiple times until its maximum range can be reached.
  • Crouching will allow the use of all Exalted Blade attacks while remaining entirely stationary; this can be extremely useful during boss fights, defense missions, survival, etc.

Bugs
  • Using this ability during an "Unarmed" bug will result in Exalted Blade having the same stats as your Melee Weapon, and sometimes will perform your Melee Weapon's Unsheathed attacks without the Waves.
  • Energy Leech Eximus does not increase the energy drain of Exalted Blade while active.
  • If Excalibur enters Bleedout state while Exalted Blade is active, Excalibur will use his melee and sometimes primary weapon rather than his secondary.
  • Equipping Mod TT 20pxReflex Guard can make Excalibur sporadically not take damage if Exalted Blade auto-blocks damage.

  • Excalibur becomes invisible as he launches into the air. Enemies on the ground within 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 meters of Excalibur's launch point are briefly stunned, and Excalibur reaches a height of 3 / 5 / 6 / 7 meters.
    • Jump height is affected by Ability Strength.
    • Stun radius is affected by Ability Range.
    • Invisibility will end when Excalibur lands on a solid surface or wall‑runs during the jump. As such, it's possible to extend the invisibility duration by using SlashDash130xDark Slash Dash or directional air‑melee attacks to stay in the air for a longer period of time.
    • While invisible, Stealth Damage Multipliers are applied to directional air‑melee attacks. Jump/slam attacks are not affected by stealth damage multipliers since the invisibility wears off before the attacks can land.
  • Can be used while firing or reloading without interruption, but other abilities incur a delay of 1 second (coinciding with the apex of the jump) before they can be used.
  • Can be used while sprinting or wall‑running but not while in the air or jumping.
    • Wall‑running requires you to hold both the "Move Forward" and "Jump" key. If you release any of these 2 keys before casting Super Jump, Super Jump will not be cast.
    • If you continue to hold the "Jump" key after casting Super Jump, you will still be wall running instead of jumping away from the wall with your Super Jump. Release the "Jump" key after casting Super Jump while wall‑running to jump away from wall with your Super Jump.

Tips & Tricks
  • You can cast this ability without interrupting your firing or reloading.
    • Start reloading and then super jump can give you enough time to reload your weapon while taking less enemy fire.
  • When this ability is at max rank it can jump high enough to activate a max rank Mod TT 20pxHeavy Impact if you activate a melee strike at the apex (thus causing additional downward velocity).
    • At the maximized jump height of 17 meters this step is not required since you are more than high enough to activate the mod without needing any additional speed. This allows for the tactic of freely shooting while jumping and doing large AoE damage on each landing. The downside is the requirement of a room with a very high or non-existent ceiling.
  • Using this ability while having a maxed rank Mod TT 20pxAviator mod lets you take 40% less damage while airborne.
