The Dax Equitem is Duviri Dax that fights aboard a Kaithe while armed with the Azothane Azothane. It serves as a miniboss and may appear during Spirals.

Strategy[]

The Dax Equitem has three health bars. After depleting one, it becomes invulnerable after which it must be interrupted or parried to stun it. This creates an interaction prompt to "Strike", permanently removing one of its health bars. It then gains an elemental empowerment and its attacks become significantly harder, causing Status on hit. A heavy attack will also stun it allowing a quick strike follow up.

While mounted, with no health missing, it will only shoot out one homing, parriable energy orb occasionally, or plunge its Azothane into the ground and send forward a single, parriable, staggering energy wave, or its Kaithe will use its Stomp ability when its eyes are glowing, winding up to shoot a laser at the Drifter after smashing down in the visible targeted AoE after jumping. These abilities happen in that exact order as it rides around, sometimes trying to ride up to the Drifter just to slash at them.

While mounted, and missing one health bar, depending on the Spiral the Equitem gains an elemental empowerment, causing its normally blue lights to change to green, red, purple, etc. It still performs the same attacks in the same order, but now releases two homing orbs, two energy waves, and the Kaithe ground stomp now also rains projectiles into the air that fall to the ground. Getting hit by any attack causes guaranteed Status proc.

On its last health bar, the Dax Equitem becomes permanently dismounted and immediately summons two Dax Arcus as reinforcements. Once dismounted, its behavior becomes effectively identical to that of a normal Dax Gladius.

Notes[]

  • As with all Duviri Daxes, Dax Equitem takes guaranteed Critical Hit on headshot. This critical hit is independent from the weapon's own critical chance, allowing it to occasionally dip into orange crit.
  • Occasionally the Dax Equitem may bug out and spawn while not attacking the player and despawn in an endless loop. A heavy attack can interrupt him and allow the player to strike the Dax forcing it back into normal gameplay.

Trivia[]

  • The have a similar appearance to the Dax Arcus, although they wear a hood instead of a helmet.

Hotfix 35.1.2 (2024-02-28)

  • Fixed casting Grendel’s Feast on the Dax Equitem in Duviri causing the Dax to disappear off his Kaithe, rendering the fight impossible to complete.
    • To prevent similar issues from occurring, the Dax Equitem is now properly immune to Warframe CC abilities as intended for a mini-boss.

Update 35.1 (2024-02-20)

  • Fixed Clients experiencing a complete loss of functionality if they are Maw Feeding while Host starts the Dax Equitem fight in Duviri.

  • Fixed the Dax Equitem going temporarily invisible after teleporting through Gara’s Mass Vitrify.

  • Fixed losing UI and not seeing the Dax Equitem cutscene if squadmates triggered it while you are far away.

  • Fixed being unable to open a Hidden Chest with a Dax patrol if you move far away from it and trigger another objective - causing a halt in Spiral stage progression.

  • Fixed Dax Equitem getting stuck somewhere and not being able to figure out how to get unstuck, causing some funky animations.

  • Made the following changes to the Dax Equitem to make the fight more engaging and challenging:
    • Increased the rate at which they use abilities and improved their targeting logic when fighting against a squad.
    • Slightly increased base health.
    • Updated animations after performing abilities/leaps.
  • Fixed cases where a player with many Decrees attacking the Dax Equitem could break the fight and potentially crash.
  • Fixed Clients seeing the Dax Equitem standing inside of their horse after Host Migration.
