Cross Platform Play or crossplay (also known as cross-progression) is a feature where WARFRAME players from different platforms can play together in the same game instance. It is currently in testing between PC, Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
Cross Platform Play began in Hotfix 32.0.8 (2022-09-29) between PC and Xbox, but was quickly terminated due to crashes. A second test was implemented in Hotfix 32.0.11 (2022-10-06). Following Hotfix 32.2.3 (2022-12-01), Playstation and Nintendo Switch were added to the test cluster. Cross Platform Save as well as Trading across different platforms was enabled on Update 35.0 (2023-12-13).
Features[]
In preparation for Cross Platform Play, Baro Ki'Teer's wares and built/destroyed Relays were synced across all platforms as of Hotfix 31.7.1 (2022-07-28).[1]
The feature can be enabled in Settings > System > Cross Platform Play. It allows players to join missions, Relays, Hubs, and Clan Dojos with other players from other different platforms.
Next to a player's name is an icon that displays their played platform. Players on the same platform will show the platform-specific icon, while players on different platforms will show a generic Cross Platform Play icon.

Cross Platform Play Initial Public Test[]
While this test is active, players may see a new option appearing in their settings called “Cross Platform Play.”
You can toggle the “Cross Platform Play” setting, allowing Tenno from both platforms to join each other’s squads and complete missions together. There will be a few limitations on some features during this test:
- No Friend/Clan support (unless you have the setting enabled)
- No Trading or Gifting of items across different platforms (unless you have the setting enabled)
- No Voice Chat support
Based on the results of this test, we will be able to take those findings and continue to refine our feature development for all platforms. Please note that we will update this thread when the test closes and that the length of the test will be dependent on a variety of factors such as server stability.
What are these icons that I am seeing?[]
While Cross Platform Play is enabled you will see an icon next to player aliases (including your own) to denote the platform a player is playing from. All players who are on the same platform as you will have the platform-specific icon. Any player who is on a different platform will have the Cross Platform Play icon.
What are these numbers that I see next to my alias?[]
To help identify players who have the same name across different platforms, everyone has been assigned a numeric suffix. This suffix is only necessary when you are looking to invite someone into your squad or chatting with players who have the same name. You can always find your suffix by visiting your Profile in the game menu. If there are no players with the same name, then you can invite and chat as you normally would.
How do I whisper my friends with spaces in their names?[]
Console Tenno have the ability to have spaces in their aliases which means whispering them requires a small extra step. Should you wish to whisper your friend who has a space in their name, then use quotation marks to capture their full name.
For example: /w “Tenno Are Amazing” Hi friend!
This sends the message “Hi friend!” to the player whose name is Tenno Are Amazing.
All players will have to do this to whisper another player with a space in their name.
How do Dojos and Relays work during Cross Platform Play?[]
If you have “Cross Platform Play” enabled you will be able to meet and interact with players from different platforms in Relays and also be able to visit Dojos! Currently, we are aware of an issue that will prevent Cross Platform squads that form before entering a Dojo from entering. To prevent you from running into this issue, you will see an error message explaining that you must load into the Dojo first and then invite squad members from a different platform. Despite having access to the Dojo and Relays, players will not be able to join Clans from different platforms or trade across different platforms.
For our Switch Tenno, you may experience some performance issues when visiting busy Relays. We encourage you to disable Cross Platform Play while you conduct your business there and to turn it back on to rejoin squads across different platforms when doing missions. We are continuing to work on improving the experience so we appreciate your patience and feedback. If you also notice some performance issues on other platforms when in busy Relays we encourage you to do the same.
What about Cross Save?[]
Cross Platform Play will be our first direction in getting all Tenno to play together, and we will announce details around Cross Save in a future announcement.
What feedback is most beneficial to Warframe for this test?[]
For players who participate in the test, we would love to hear from you, and there are a couple of things you can do that would be greatly appreciated. When submitting your feedback, please:
- Include the platform you are playing on
- Add screenshots/videos of any issues encountered during the test
- For PC, send your EE.log, which can be found by clicking on the “Get Logs” option under the Diagnostics section of the Settings in the launcher
- Please attach EE.Log in a Support Ticket with the title “CROSS PLATFORM PLAY BUG”
- For PC, detail what happened before any crash occurred when submitting a ticket using Warframe’s crash report tool (it will generate a WAR number)
We are excited to have this test live so that we can continue to connect Tenno across all platforms. With your help, we can iron out major issues and make Cross Platform Play a smoother experience for everyone!

Patch History[]
Update 37.0 (2024-10-02)
- CROSS PLATFORM PLAY/SAVE CHANGES
Cross Platform Trading/Gifting Changes You can now trade and gift with players regardless of their Cross Platform Save status!
Previously, you could only trade with players who had matching Cross Platform Save account statuses. In other words, someone with a Cross Platform Save account (PC accounts and/or Console accounts that were Linked or Merged) would only be able to trade with others who also had Cross Platform Save accounts. Now, you can trade with and gift anyone (including both sender and recipient) regardless of their engagement with the Cross Platform Save system.
Since this system’s rollout at the end of 2023, players have consistently voiced confusion and frustration at this “hidden” trading restriction. Without knowing whether your Trading partner matched your Cross Platform Save status, a 2 minute jaunt to the Dojo to trade your Prime sets could end up a lot more complicated than previously anticipated.
Now, with Koumei & the Five Fates, players should be able to trade so long as the following requirements are met:
- Be Mastery Rank 2 or higher
- Have TennoGuard 2FA enabled (PC and Cross Platform Save players only)
- Have Cross Platform Play enabled (only if you want to do trades with Tenno on a different platform)
NOTE: Existing restrictions for Cross Platform trading of in-game premium currency to/from some platforms remain (more details in our FAQ).
General Cross Platform Changes & Fixes:
- Fixed a Cross Platform Save issue where starting gear acquired in the Awakening Quest would not be correctly awarded after linking/merging accounts with another platform.
- Fixed cases of Excalibur Prime on a Linked Cross Platform Save account not having Exalted Prime Blade.
- Founders who Linked a Console account and chose the Console as their Primary Account retained access to their Excalibur Prime with launch. Exalted Prime Blade was not included in this special case. Those who were missing this Exalted weapon should now see it in their accounts after downloading Koumei & the Five Fates.
Update 35.5 (2024-03-27)
- You will now receive a message when attempting to invite a Cross Platform Play player while Cross Platform Play toggle is disabled that informs them they need to turn it on to be able to invite them.
Hotfix 35.1.1 (2024-02-21)
- Cross Platform Play/Save Changes & Fixes:
- Founders items can now be accessed on platforms other than PC from Cross Platform accounts.
- We want to thank our Founders for their continued support from the start and are honored to have them here with us to enjoy Cross Platform Play and Save almost 11 years later! We greatly appreciate our day 1 supporters and thoroughly enjoy seeing them continue to sport their Founders gear. If you still can’t access your Founders items from your Cross Platform accounts after this Hotfix, please submit a ticket to support.warframe.com.
- Note: The Excalibur Prime Dark and Bright Glyphs are not accessible at the moment, but we will have a follow up fix to ensure they are in the near future!
- Fixed the PlayStation-exclusive Obsidian Syandana being visible and equippable from the Drifter Clothing menu on other Platforms via Cross Platform Save.
- To learn more about Cross Platform Save exclusions (including platform-exclusive items such as the Obsidian Syandana), visit the Cross Platform Save information post.
- Fixed players who linked their iOS account for Cross Platform Save not receiving the iOS Pre-Order / Day 1 Rewards (Bombyx Syandana and 3-Day Affinity Booster) in their Cross Platform Save accounts.
- For affected accounts, an inbox message containing the rewards will be delivered after downloading this Hotfix and logging in.
Update 35.1 (2024-02-20)
- Cross Platform Play/Save Changes & Fixes:
- Fixed being unable to progress in the Awakening Quest after Merging an account that had completed with an account that hadn’t yet.
- Fixed Exalted Weapons losing their progress after merging accounts.
- Since a Warframe can only have a singular Exalted Weapon, the Primary account would override the Secondary’s Exalted Weapon progress, regardless of its state. Now, when accounts are merged, the account with the Exalted Weapon that has more Forma and Rank/Affinity will be prioritized.
- Fixed the warning pop-up informing players that they cannot trade Platinum with Nintendo Switch accounts (as intended with the Platform specifications for Cross Platform Trading & Gifting) stating that the trade has failed instead of specifying why.
- This would occur specifically when adding Platinum to the Trade window after another item or after attempting to add it a second time.
- Fixed cases where players would not be properly Host Migrated if the Host was on a Console platform.
- Fixed having both an incubating and equipped Companion active at the same time after merging an account that is Incubating a Companion with an account that has a Companion equipped.
- Now, when merging accounts in these states, the equipped Companion will be unequipped.
- Fixed players on other platforms being unable to add an Xbox player as a friend if they had spaces in their alias.
- Fixed a rare issue where the "You are already logged in. Login here and terminate the other connection?" message would pop up repeatedly after linking a Console account to a brand new PC account and using the Companion App.
- Fixed Operator/Drifter Configs not retaining their assigned customizations after making a Console account the primary during merge. This would often appear as if Config A’s customizations had been copied over to all Configs.
- Any future merges will now take the primary account’s Configs. For existing merges, the Configs have been reverted to those from the primary account.
- Fixed case where you could end up with more Loadouts than Loadout Slots after merging accounts.
- This was caused by Loadout Slots from the Initiate Power Pack and those from Mastery Ranks not carrying over into the merged account. Players would see, for example, “SLOTS 4/3” in the Loadout screen after merging.
- Note: Merged accounts that were created from an account with the max amount of purchasable Slots (24) with one that also had a lot of Loadouts will likely still have more Loadouts than Slots even with the above fix. These Loadouts are still accessible/usable, but in order to create new Loadouts you will have to get below the 24 Slot limit by deleting some.
- This was caused by Loadout Slots from the Initiate Power Pack and those from Mastery Ranks not carrying over into the merged account. Players would see, for example, “SLOTS 4/3” in the Loadout screen after merging.
Hotfix 35.0.6 (2023-12-22)
- Fixed the inability to Merge your Console account if you had to make a new PC Account in order to Merge.
- If you encountered the issue and did not link the accounts, the website should now say the accounts will be merged
- If you encountered the issue and did link the accounts, please contact support
- Fixed some Merged accounts not getting various Quest inboxes which resulted in an inability to start the Quests.
- Fixed Helminth abilities from the merged account being unlocked on the Primary Account. Helminth abilities are determined by the chosen Primary Account.
Update 35.0 (2023-12-13)
- CROSS PLATFORM SAVE ROLLOUT (BEGINS DEC 14TH)
STARTING DECEMBER 14TH, we will begin the rollout of Cross Platform Save across all available Platforms!
Cross Platform Save is an upcoming optional feature that allows you to Merge or Link your accounts to unify Warframe progress across all platforms. This allows you to use a single Warframe account across any Linked or Merged platforms (with some restrictions outlined in this FAQ).
To ensure success and stability during the launch of this highly requested feature, Cross Platform Save will be made available in staggered phases.
You can check if your Account is included in the latest phase and is ready for Cross Platform Save by going to the Account Management page on www.warframe.com.
If you do not qualify for the active phase, please wait for our announcement that the next phase is live before checking again. We appreciate your patience while we roll out these features — our intention is to have Cross Platform Save in everyone’s hands in 2023.
We are excited to reach this milestone in Warframe with the arrival of Cross Platform Save allowing Tenno to access their account on any Platform they choose. We will of course monitor and respond to any issues during the rollout phases. If you would like to report an issue or share feedback, please use our dedicated Cross Platform Save sub-forums.
For errors encountered during Cross Platform Save account setup, please contact Warframe Support www.support.warframe.com.
Thank you for your cooperation and feedback while we ensure the landmark new feature is working for all Tenno!

- CROSS PLATFORM TRADING & GIFTING
Tenno can now trade with players on different platforms (depending on those players’ Cross Platform settings). Trading will function the same as gifting, except for trading Platinum between Nintendo Switch and other platforms, which is not available.
To trade with friends or fellow Tenno across platforms, make sure you are using a Cross Platform Save Account (or PC account*) and have Cross Platform Play enabled via your in-game settings. TennoGuard 2FA is required to trade in-game items with fellow Tenno in Warframe, which can be enabled via the Account Management page.
*PC accounts can automatically trade with players on other platforms — provided that both players still have Cross Platform Play enabled in their settings and that any non-PC player trading with them has a Cross Platform Save Account (more information on this in the link below).
For all for the details on Cross Platform Trading & Gifting, please visit: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1374265-cross-platform-save-rollout-information-beginning-dec-14/
- Cross Platform Play Changes & Fixes:
- Newly created Clans and Alliances will now have the “Cross Platform Clan” toggle enabled by default.
- A pop-up explaining how to disable Cross Platform Clan will occur upon creation, to ensure players are familiar with the setting.
- Fixed an issue where players on console were unable to add a friend on PC if they had the same account alias.
- Fixed players receiving an incorrect error message, “Cannot sync to Warframe database due to no internet connection.”, when trying to send a friend request to someone with a duplicate name on another platform, for whom they already have a pending friend request.
- Fixes towards unclear error prompts when inviting a player when you have Cross Platform Play disabled. It will now better communicate why an invite isn’t being sent due to Cross Platform Play settings between sender and receiver.
- GENERAL FIXES
- Fixed the “Unable to join; Relay instance is reserved for players on another platform” error message occurring when attempting to join a Relay/Hub with Cross Platform Play Enabled.
Hotfix 34.0.8 (2023-11-09)
- Fixed being unable to accept Cross Platform players into your Clan if the requesting player had not signed in since the launch of Cross Platform Clans.
Hotfix 34.0.5 (2023-10-26)
- Fixed the “Add Friend” and “Invite to Clan” options missing from the chat menu for Cross Platform players.
- Fixed being unable to add a Cross Platform player when entering their alias with their numeric suffix (e.g. VorsFanGirl#453).
- Note: The Alias # suffix is not required to send Cross Platform Friend requests. Entering an alias without the # will pull up a list to select from if that alias is on multiple platforms.
- Fixed being unable to place Decorations in empty Cross Platform Dojo Rooms that previously had decorations in it.
- Fixed several issues caused by attempting to and failing to remove Decorations in Cross Platform Dojos.
- Live since Tuesday with Hotdrop
- Fixed being the “Enable Cross Platform Alliance” option not working.
- Fixed accepting Cross Platform Clan requests failing.
Hotfix 34.0.4 (2023-10-24)
- Cross Platform Friends, Clans, and Alliances have arrived!
- You can now add Friends and Clan/Alliance members from other Platforms. For each, there are steps to take in order to enable these Cross Platform features:
- Friends: Provided Cross Platform Play is enabled, you can now freely add friends from other Platforms.
- Clans: While the existing “Cross Platform Play” toggle is ON by default for players, a Clan’s Founding Warlord must enable it using the new “Enable Cross Platform Clan” setting from the Clan Management page (which is off by default).
- Alliances: Located in the Alliance Management Menu, enabling Cross Platform Alliances works the same way as enabling Cross Platform Clans via their management page.
Update 34.0 (2023-10-18)
- In preparation for the introduction of Cross Platform Play Clans, the way resources are refunded from canceling Dojo Rooms and Decorations has been changed to ensure parity between Cross Platform and non-Cross Platform Play Clans. Instead of the resources returning to the contributing players’ inventories, it will now be refunded to the Clan Vault.
Update 32.3 (2023-02-15)
- You can now host your own Cross-Platform Play Dedicated Conclave Server!
- To do so, the following change is required in your config files. Simply add “allowXPlatform=1” in your LotusDedicatedServerSettings. Learn more about dedicated servers here.
- Changed the error message when inviting someone with an alias that does not exist from “Cannot sync to Warframe database due to no internet connection” to “No online player found with alias X”.
- Using the /invite command in chat will only send invites to players on your friends list if their alias is used by another player on another platform. If their alias is used on multiple platforms but none of the players are on your friends list, using /invite will still present the option to pick between the two.
- Previously, all /invite commands would offer you the option to choose which player you want but it is more likely you want to /invite the player on your friends list. We are making this change to reduce that friction. If you saw the other non-friended player online and wanted to send them an invite you can still do so using the Invite Squad Member functionality.
- An error message will now pop up if you typed the name of someone to invite, but the only online account that was found was yourself: “Player is already in your session.” We are not responsible for any existential crises that may result from this message.
- Fixed “Recent Players” list not showing numeric suffixes.
- Fixed Profile and Clan stats from other platforms showing incorrectly.
Hotfix 32.2.10 (2023-01-18)
- Fixed sending an invite to a username used across different platforms not showing an account number suffix, making it confusing to know to whom you are sending an invite.
Hotfix 32.2.4 (2022-12-07)
- Cross Platform Play Fixes:
- Fixed a rare crash when leaving a squad.
- Fixed player reports in some regions not working.
- Fixed being unable to invite players with a numeric suffix from the Recent Players list.
- Fixed Cross-Platform Play reporting crashing the chat server.
Hotfix 32.2.3 (2022-12-01)
Some of you may have noticed that your missions and region chat have a lot of new faces. That’s right, the next phase of the Cross Platform Play test is live with the inclusion of Switch and PlayStation! We will continue to monitor for any issues. Learn more in our official Cross Platform Play post.
Update 32.2 (2022-11-30)
- Cross-Platform Play Changes & Fixes
- Cross-Platform Profiles are now viewable!
- Due to technical limitations, stats on profiles are not available. We may be able to make this possible in the future.
- Added a new message when failing to enter a Dojo on another platform; “Unable to join Cross Platform Dojo. Dojo joining is currently restricted to the same platform only.”
- No Dojo support is intended as listed in our Cross-Platform Play post.
- Added an error message when attempting to load into a Cross-Platform Dojo while being in a Cross-Platform squad; “Unable to load into a Cross Platform Dojo while being in a Cross Platform squad. Load into a Dojo first and then invite other platforms to join.”
- The "in mission" status in the "Recent Players" list is now enabled for Cross Platform players.
- Added the functionality to select between users of the same name but different platforms when joining friends in cross platform play.
- Fixed being unable to whisper players from a different platform due to them having spaces in their alias.
- In order to whisper a console player with spaces in their name, you must now add quotation marks around their alias. For example: /w “Kahl Sneak Good 555”.
- Fixed @ tags in chat not sending notification to the player being tagged.
- Fixed the cross platform icon sometimes not appearing when Cross-Platform Play is enabled.
- Fixed players losing their Relay blessing when returning to their Orbiter.
- Fixed Cross Platform players being unable to see each other in Relays.
- Fixed being unable to view the Host’s Orbiter decorations when invited as Client.
- Fixed the # suffix appearing in the UI of the player that scores a goal in Lunaro.
Hotfix 32.1.4 (2022-11-09)
- PC/Xbox Cross Platform Play Changes & Fixes:
- Changed the generic icon for Cross Platform Play from the silhouette to a new swirl icon that will be used to identify Cross Platform Play in Warframe.
- Fixed in-mission Operator transmissions showing the platform icon suffix after alias.
Hotfix 32.1.3 (2022-11-08)
- PC/Xbox Cross Platform Play Changes & Fixes:
- Fixed being unable to invite or send a message to a player from another platform by using the “Invite”/”Send Message” buttons on their profile.
Hotfix 32.1.2 (2022-11-04)
- PC/Xbox Cross Platform Play Changes & Fixes:
- Changed the way that respective platform icons appear for players in order to continue to comply with player identification requirements across platforms. The following are the new icon changes:
- Platform-specific icons only appear for players who are playing on the same platform
- Your platform-specific icon will appear beside your own name
- All players on platforms other than your own will have the generic icon
- A visual example of how PC players will see this: 4986519539238d56c10acdaadfb18d5e.png
- Fixed Cross Platform icons appearing too large for Xbox players.
Hotfix 32.1.1 (2022-11-03)
- PC/Xbox Cross Platform Play Changes & Fixes:
- Fixed the alias numeric suffix while Cross Platform Play is enabled showing in a chat DM with anyone.
- The intent is to only show if you're in a DM with someone using the same name as you from a different platform.
- Fixed crash related to the numeric suffixes added to Aliases for crossplay.
Update 32.1 (2022-11-02)
- PC/Xbox Cross Platform Play Changes & Fixes:
Since the Cross Platform Play test between PC and Xbox remains live (and we intend to keep it so!), we have made changes and fixes as we continue to oversee the test. Thank you for your continued support and participation!
- General Cross Platform Play stability improvements.
- Added a workaround for Windows and Xbox to reduce the impact of misconfigured IPv6 networks causing stalls when joining sessions that could be long enough to force you to drop from the squad.
- Alias that is the exact same on PC and Xbox will now have a “#xxxx” number suffix next to their names to distinguish them from one another.
- These suffixes will also show in your Profile in case you need to reference it for invites, etc.
- Dojos now behave the same way as Relays in terms of Cross Platform Play settings - If two players on PC are in the same Clan, but one has Cross Platform Play on and the other has it off, they will no longer see each other in the Dojo anymore. This is because the PC player with Cross Platform Play enabled could invite an Xbox player into their instance, which would cause issues.
- For trading, players that have differing Cross Platform Play settings can still go to Maroo’s Bazaar to go through with their trades.
- Players from the same platform will not see platform icons next to their names.
- Changed the platform logos to be more generic in order to comply with platform guidelines around player identification. As a result, PC and Xbox users will see a small human silhouette instead of the previous Windows and Xbox icons while Cross Platform Play is enabled. This was a necessary step in continuing to develop this feature.
- Fixed clicking on a Look Link in chat from an Xbox user while on PC prompting an error: “Link is from an old build and cannot be used".
- Fixed being unable to DM Kickbot while Cross Platform Play is active.
- Fixed getting the “Unable to join Maroo's Bazaar while in a squad with other platforms.” error message when attempting to join a Host’s Orbiter from a different platform.
- Fixed PC Clients experiencing black screens and loss of functionality when hosted by Xbox players if the squad loads into Maroo’s Bazaar from the Navigation screen.
- Fixed Fomorian and Razorback inbox messages not being sent once progress is complete and their nodes are available. As reported here: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1329032-razorback-cipher/#comment-12652102
- This also applied to other scheduled inbox messages such as Baro Ki’Teer’s arrival.
- Fixed attempting to “Listen” to ignored players from another platform prompting the “Invalid Character” error.
Hotfix 32.0.11 (2022-10-06)
- UPDATE: Cross Platform Play Test #2 is Live
We want to repeat our thanks to those of you who were able to participate in our initial Cross Platform Play Test. Our second public Cross Platform Play test between Xbox and PC users is live. It’s possible that this test could close/end abruptly like the last one did, but we will update this thread if that occurs. We also updated our note on Trading to clarify what to expect during the test.
Hotfix 32.0.8 (2022-09-29)
- Cross Platform Play Initial Public Test
Hello Tenno,
The team has reached another milestone in the development of Cross Platform Play with the latest Updates/Hotfixes. The time has come for our first public Cross Play test between Xbox and PC users. This post aims to inform you about what you can expect from this test and be the dedicated place where you can provide us with your feedback or issues about your experiences, which is very important to us.
- UPDATE: Cross Platform Play Initial Test is Over
Thank you for participating in our initial Cross Platform Play test for Xbox and PC users. The test is now closed but we are still accepting feedback from participants. This information will help us further develop Cross Platform Play and we look forward to sharing more information about the feature in the future.
Update 32.0 (2022-09-07)
- THE NEXT STEP TOWARD CROSS PLAY - WORLD-STATE SYNC
With Baro Ki’Teer’s inventory fully synced on all platforms, the team has progressed toward the following Cross Play objective: syncing all world-state content. This sync includes everything from Sorties, Void Fissures, Day/Night cycle, Town Vendors, Bounties, and everything in between that has a timer system. Additionally, the Relays active/destroyed on PC now apply to the console Star Chart, making them synced across the board. We had aspirations to do a “Relay Rebuilding” event, but to get Cross Play sooner than later, we’ve decided to forgo that idea.
Our next objective is the public Cross Play test between select Platforms to gather feedback and bugs. Expect news about those tests, hopefully soon!
Hotfix 31.7.1 (2022-07-28)
- Baro Ki’Teer’s inventory is now synced across all platforms!
