The Codex is an in-game database containing data on all aspects of Warframe. Several sections of the Codex are automatically populated as more content is released (Warframes, Weapons, Events, Sentinels, Sentinel Weapons) and are additionally used to track player's progress in attaining and leveling those items.

In order to obtain information on enemies and objects for the Codex, players need to scan the relevant items using scanners. Codex section for Kuva Liches will be available after the player creates their first Lich.

Information for other categories is obtained by owning the item in question (Mods) or by progressing in Mastery Ranks (Art Gallery).

Synthesis Scanner

  1. Obtain a Scanner:
  2. Equip the Scanner under the Gear section of the Arsenal.
  3. While in a mission, select the scanner in your gear section or use the appropriate hotkey (default Q  on PC).
  4. Right-click to zoom, hold left click over an enemy to scan. Alternatively, hold Left-click to both zoom and scan simultaneously.

Notes

  • The Codex is not a communal effort. Each player has their own Codex.
  • There is a hidden tab for Corrupted enemies. Scan a Corrupted enemy in the Void to reveal it.
  • Some mods within the game do not appear in the codex:
  • Enemy and object scans are saved even if the player fails or aborts the mission.
  • Scanning enemy units that spawn from NekrosIcon272 Nekros' "Shadows Of The Dead" wasn't found in Module:Ability/data or InarosIcon272 Inaros' Mod TT 20px Desiccation's Curse count towards Codex completion.
  • There are 2 entries of Infested Tumor in the Objects section of the codex, one of them can't be scanned anymore because it was in a hidden location of the The Jordas Verdict Trial which has been removed from the game.
  • Even if something is not (yet) in the codex the scans will be recorded. Scannable entities that do not have a codex entry include (incomplete list):
    • Corpus Rover (more specifically, its fuel tank below/inside it, can be scanned with Helios)
    • Fomorian Power Core (Grineer Hijack Target, can be scanned with Helios from certain position)
    • Archwing Mobile Defense Satellite (both Grineer and Corpus)
    • Grineer Courier
    • Rescue Hostage (male and female are separated in two distinct entries, including 6 Syndicates' Operatives)
    • Chrysalis (the larvae which the Vulpaphylas devolve into with their precepts when they die) is scannable (scan at its belly), but its scan progression is NOT saved. You can scan it to 'CODEX ENTRY COMPLETE' in one mission, but the next mission, it appears to be scannable again.
    • Reactive Crystal (appears in Cambion Drift, each requiem has its own progress, 8 in total, is scannable with Helios)
    • Ally Necramech (on Cambion Drift surface during Vome)
    • Fallen Necramech (on Cambion Drift surface during Fass)
    • Baro Ki'Teer (in Baro Void-Signal / Void Raider mission)
    • John Prodman (spawns after 1h Index, can be scanned with Heliocor)
    • Kuva Harvester (Kuva Survival Capsule, can be scanned with Helios)
    • Telemetry System (Kuva Assault Console)
    • Vomvalyst Interference Drone (spawns in missions of Rising Tide quest)
    • Deth Carabus (Drone summoned by Executioner Nok in Rathuum, can be scanned with Heliocor)
    • Reth Roller (Rollers summoned by Executioner Reth in Rathuum, can be scanned with Heliocor)
    • Ultracapacitor (big object in certain tile of Corpus Gas City missions on Jupiter)

The New War Chapters

A Codex Quest chapter entry for The New War has been added for those who have completed the Sacrifice Quest! As you might be aware, The New War has started, and with Scarlet Spear coming soon we want players to be properly informed as The New War develops. If you have yet to complete the Chimera Prologue or the Erra Quest, head to The New War Codex Quest entry to access a shortcut to these Quests.

Railjack Changes & Fixes
  • Fixed Codex missing descriptions for the Exo Raider, Exo Raider Carver, and Exo Raider Eviscerator.
Kuva Lich Changes & Fixes
  • The Kuva Lich section of the Codex now has tabs for Active, Vanquished, Converted, and Traded Liches!
  • Fixed the Kuva Nukor, Kuva Hind, and Kuva Bramma weapon progression showing as complete in the Codex when at Rank 30 instead of it’s true completed Rank of 40.
  • Fixed issue where Requiem Mods would always appear in their Defiled version when viewing them in the Codex.
Optimizations
  • Optimized the way the Codex is stored to save nearly 3.5 MB of memory.
General Changes
  • The Codex console in your Orbiter will now display Leverian Prex Cards instead of cycling through the Codex. There is also a brand new ‘Leverian’ section specifically for the Codex that you can access the respective Warframe’s Leverian!
  • The Quest section of the Codex now orders itself in Active > Incomplete > Complete to reduce having to scroll through alphabetical order.

Considering the extensive amount of Rivens possible, this option in the Codex does not function properly, as it would need to look up unique information.

  • Relics & Arcanes now appear in the Codex in their own section, which reveal drop locations for Relics and Arcanes! Please note that as a result of this change, the Oddities section has been moved to Objects and renamed 'Kuria'.
  • Added the Jordas Verdict to the Codex.
  • Expanded Drop Sources in the Mod section of the Codex to include missions where you can find them and not just what enemies drop them; this is particularly helpful for event-mods that have since been released as missions-rewards.
  • You now have the option to ‘Clear Active Quest’ in the Codex.
