Winter has been celebrated in WARFRAME ever since its Closed Beta. As an Annual Event this holiday brings many additions to WARFRAME's cosmetic content, including customizations based on the traditional Christmas holiday and the winter solstice.

Since 2016, WARFRAME's winter event has been named Tennobaum and focuses around players giving gifts sent using the Market to fellow Tenno.

History[]

2012[]

During December of 2012, WARFRAME's Closed Beta added winter theming to the main menu with snowfall, and festive jingle sound effects. This would be the first of many winter themed updates to the game and, as with other holiday updates during this time, main enemies were given holiday-themed headwear: Grineer spawned adorned with reindeer antlers and storage containers appeared as stacks of colourful Christmas presents for the duration of December.

2013[]

With the release of The Cicero Crisis came 2013's winter update. Bringing much of the same content as the previous year, 2013 re-added the snowflake background and antler wearing Grineer to the game, this time adding the the Candy Cane Scythe, now known as the Spearmint Scythe to the Market.

2014[]

As of Update 14 (2014-18-07), the addition of the Orbiter made the snowflake menu theme from previous years unobtainable. In light of this, WARFRAME added a Christmas-themed bunting and snow Orbiter Scene as a purchasable customisation on the Market.

This year brought many customizations for the player’s arsenal including the Winter Bundle featuring cosmetic skins for MirageIcon272 Mirage and FrostIcon272 Frost, and festive cosmetics for the newly implemented Kubrows.

The Christmas content for this year was introduced in Update 18 (2015-03-12) bringing back all festive items from previous years with four new additions:

The 2016 winter event was the biggest in cosmetic additions, and the first to be officially named Tennobaum: an event where WARFRAME partners with charities and creates a donation pledge. Much like fundraisers, each tier offers in-game rewards; to achieve donation goals players must gift a global total of items in-game to their fellow Tenno.

This year Digital Extremes pledged their funds to the Boys & Girls Club of London, donating the total of $50,000 CAD to Charity.

For reaching these donation goals, players earned unique Solstice cosmetics:

For the month of December, many winter-themed items were added to the game. On the Market, the first Solstice Bundle was made available for Platinum64 350 as well as a winter themed Glyph bundle at Platinum64 110, and a Solstice Glyph bundle for Platinum64 65. The Argyl Kavat Gene-Masking Kit would also be available for purchase at Platinum64 40 and Baro Ki'Teer would also introduce a new solstice syandana to the winter-themed cosmetic roster.

This year Tennobaum would be raising money for the Children's Health Foundation Canada. With the success of the previous year, Tennobaum 2017 would double their pledge and donate a total of $100,000 CAD from players reaching a total of 250,000 items gifted in-game. For each tier of total in-game gifts, players would unlock Solstice Cosmetics:

Also given from Tennobaum were several cookie themed Glyphs and a new winter themed glyph bundle was added to the Market for Platinum64 100.

This year's Tennobaum would be themed around How the Grinch Stole Christmas!1; using the iconic styling of Dr. Suess, it featured Nef Anyo as the Grinch as well as stylised depictions of various warframes.

The charity of choice this year was the Canadian Red Cross receiving $100,000 CAD from Digital Extremes on behalf of the player-base for gifting a total of 300,000 in-game items. The cosmetic reward for reaching this final goal was the Avia Solstice Armor, with the Solstice Guandao Skin and Solstice Corinth Skin awarded in lower tiers.

As with the previous year, several cookie-themed glyphs were rewarded during Tennobaum and another Winter-themed glyph bundle was maid available for Platinum64 80 on the Market.

Due to the big release of Update 27.0 (2019-12-13): Empyrean, the 2019 Tennobaum was a small event. A dedicated webpage was not made this year but gifting in-game items still gave money to charity. From December 6th-31st every in-game gift gave $0.25 CAD towards local food banks, reaching a maximum amount of $50,000 CAD. This total was given to London Food Bank with players reaching a total of 229,912 items gifted on December 30th.

All previous event-locked solstice items were made available through Gift from the Lotus Alerts, running through December 20th to November 3rd. In addition, three new solstice rewards would be added to these alerts featuring two new weapon skins and the Solstice Centuria Syandana.

A new winter-themed Glyph bundle would be made available for Platinum64 90 on the Market:

Back in-line with the more recognized format, Tennobaum 2020 saw the return of the Gift of Giving webpage. This year Tennobaum raised funds for Kids Help Phone: a young people's 24/7 mental health service based in Canada. The ultimate goal this year reached a total of 120,000 items gifted, with a $45,000 (CAD) donation pledged by Digital Extremes to Kids Help Phone.

The rewards this year included three new solstice items as well as new Tennobaum glyphs featuring the Entrati family.

Gift from the Lotus Alerts were made available during December of 2021, featuring all the previous Solstice rewards.
One new cosmetic would be featured with the Wintercress Syandana being added to Baro Ki'Teer inventory for the winter holidays.

Unfortunately due to time constraints with the work on The New War, the Gift of Giving Tennobaum event was cancelled. In response the winter solstice items from 2020 and the Frostfall Ephemera were added to Ticker's inventory for the 2022 Valentine's Day event called Star Days.
All solstice items were available to purchase for the duration at five MedicalDebt-Bond Medical Debt-Bonds each.
