Brood Mothers are tall Infested that breed within their chest cavity swarms of Maggots, which can detach from their host and attack enemies. They were introduced in the Operation: Mutalist Incursions event in Update 15.5.
Attached Maggots slow the player down a little while doing damage over time. These maggots are weak and easy to dispatch but due to their small size can prove to be difficult without AoE weapons or abilities.
Tactics
- Rolling will make Maggots fall on the ground.
Notes
- Mind Controlled Brood Mothers will release friendly Maggots; however, it seems that when the ability ends the Maggots spawned while the Brood Mother is Mind Controlled will become hostile again.
Trivia
- The Brood Mother was introduced in Devstream 35, where it was referred to as the Diseased Ancient.
Bugs
- Brood Mother corpses cannot be desecrated.
- Knocking down a Brood Mother using jump attacks or blast procs will permanently keep the Brood Mother on the ground. Sometimes you will come across Brood Mothers that are simply lying down, possibly due to being knocked down by an Eximus or a Shokwave Moa.
