We (over on the Discord) talked about this a little while ago. One idea was to use gifs, but trying to get each of the little videos for every ability and converting them into gifs would be very tedious and hard. Not to mention the potential page load times resulting from them.

Ideally we'd like to keep all the ability pics we have now since they're official and high quality. Whether or not DE will switch to the video format for future frames on their website is unknown though. Until then (Wisp's release) we decided just have things stay as they are.

We (over on the Discord) talked about this a little while ago. One idea was to use gifs, but trying to get each of the little videos for every ability and converting them into gifs would be very tedious and hard. Not to mention the potential page load times resulting from them.

So ideally we'd like to keep all the ability pics we have now since they're official and high quality. Whether or not DE will switch to the video format for future frames on their website is unknown though. Until then (Wisp's release) we decided just to have things stay as they are.

As for your screenshot idea: I don't think it's a bad one. Many images on the wiki are just screenshots with some PS touch ups here and there. However, the problems I see is that we would need to go through each and every video and decide what frame we want to capture. Also, because the ingame videos are somewhat small the resulting screenshot will be below normal wiki quality (as seen in your Spectrorage example), as well as having what looks like an odd aspect ratio. But, if push comes to shove and we're not able to keep the current ability images I'd say the screenshot method is a decent backup plan.

Btw, if you want to get rid of that Maximization text replace

 |cardonly = {{{1|}}}

with something like

 |cardonly = yes
