Belric & Rania

The crystallized remains of the master foundry operator, Belric.

During the Old War, Belric, Rania and their guardian Warframe Citrine were the last line of defense against a Sentient onslaught upon a strategically important planetoid. In the absence of any eyewitnesses, what happened in those final moments is a matter of speculation and colorful myth.

What is known? A bio-bomb released the Infestation upon the planetoid, halting the Sentient advance and creating a heavily mutated environment. As for Belric and Rania, the evidence suggests they were turned to crystal by Citrine. In her final moments, the Warframe chose not to flee but to use the last of her energy to preserve the pair, together, in one final embrace.

The crystallized remains of the celebrated Void engineer Rania.

In an event that has become the stuff of legend, Rania, along with her former husband Belric, were transmuted into crystal by their sworn protector; the Warframe Citrine. A merciful end, that saved them from a much worse fate.

Their crystals remained together until the recent past. Smugglers discovered they exhibited some very curious properties; when separated, Rania's crystal remains connected to Belric's crystal via a Void tunnel, How? Perhaps in their final moments, intense emotions deformed the Void substrata, connecting them forever.

Belric, the master foundry operator, and Rania, the celebrated Void engineer, are two Orokin engineers that were responsible for releasing the Infested on Deimos. Their remains are defense objectives in the Mirror Defense mission on Tyana Pass, Mars.

Lore & History[]

The Old War[]

When the Sentients began their invasion of Deimos, Belric and Rania would gather up Infested entities to create a bio-bomb in an attempt to halt their advance. In the final minute before the bomb detonated, the couple would have one final toast. The bomb would then detonate, releasing the Infested on Deimos and leaving the moon with a heavily mutated environment. Instead of perishing in the explosion, the couple's guardian Warframe, Citrine, chose to sacrifice herself, transmuting Belric and Rania's remains into two crystal formations with her Preserving Shell just as the bomb detonated.

The Re-emergence of Deimos[]

Long after the Old War and The Collapse, Deimos would re-phase back into Martian orbit, becoming a new target exploration and treasure hunting. Of the items taken, the remains of Belric and Rania were among them.

The smugglers that stole the crystals discovered that when they are separated, a Void tunnel forms between the two, linking both Belric and Rania together through the fabric of reality. The phenomenon was likely a Conceptual Embodiment of the couple's love for each other; When exposed to Void energy, their feelings of love are strong enough to bend the laws of nature.

Mirror Defense[]

Belric's remains were hidden at Tyana Pass, on Mars, while Renia's remains were hidden on Venus. Currently, the Grineer geneticist, Tyl Regor, attempts to shatter open the couple's crystals in order to harvest their genetic codes to create stronger Grineer soldiers.

Trivia[]

Belric and Rania's achievement appears to be common knowledge throughout the Origin System, much to the chagrin of Loid and the Entrati.
A decoration of Belric & Rania's crystals can be acquired through purchasing the Crystal Bastion Collection, called Belric & Rania Reunited. Interacting with the crystals will play a recording of the couple's final words before being crystallized.
