This Orokin variation of the Ankyros is superior to its successor in every way.

The Ankyros Prime are the primed version of Ankyros, added in Update 12.4 (2014-03-05).

On February 9th, 2016, it was announced that Ankyros Prime would enter the Prime Vault and be retired from the reward tables on February 16th, 2016. Any preexisting components or fully-built weapons will remain as is.

Ankyros Prime along with Boar Prime, Dakra Prime, Mag Prime, Rhino Prime, and Boltor Prime were unvaulted on June 27, 2017.

Characteristics

This weapon deals primarily damage.

Advantages:

• High damage – effective against shields.
• High base attack speed.
• Good status chance
• High critical chance.
• Reliable finisher damage and speed, can hit and kill multiple enemies.
• Has great crowd-control capabilities:
  • Staggers on each hit;
  • Small knock-down AoE on ground slam;
• Has two  polarities.
• Stance slot has polarity, matches Fracturing Wind stance.

Disadvantages:

• Short range.
• Each punch only hits one target, except for the ground slam AoE.

• Compared to the Ankyros:
  • Higher base damage (38.0 vs. 30.0).
    • Higher damage (26.6 vs. 21.0).
    • Higher damage (5.7 vs. 4.5).

Trivia

• Ankyros Prime is the first Gauntlet melee weapon to be primed.
• Compared to previous Prime weapons, the Ankyros and the Ankyros Prime have a much closer resemblance to each other -- their model geometry is nearly identical.
