Yes there are space requirements for all rooms. If you have a multi level floor room this may be the reason for your placement. Large open space rooms are takes up 5 floors up and I believe 2/3 floors below. And depending on which rooms are built next to it you may need to build a hallway beforehand.

But in general there's no real limit besides the 128 max room creation and decoration capacity. An of course the room "dimensions"

If you do have negative, not good usually means someone used bad plat and you must buy from DE til positive balance. I always wondered how people end up just shopping before guaranteeing their plat are legit and spending what the can't recover. Generally leads to a ban. Best to let plat sit a few days if received from trading and never use more than you actually have yourself just in case scammers.
