Bord. Thought I would write something.
Warframe is a farming sim, I think most of us can agree to that. We need resources to make Frames, weapons and gear, and the frames that can produce the most loot will always be useful in all current and future content. Below is a list in priority of MY (personal opinion) top loot Frame.
However, before we get started, what makes a good loot Frame? Well of course there has to a means to get more loot, but also damage to kill foes to get said loot, as well as survivability to be able to stay longer in missions for the greatest rewards. So, all my pick, and rankings will have these three factors expected and explained.
1) KHORA.
· Loot Ability - Strangle dome (with augments) and Venari. Pilfering Strangle dome gives a 65% chance to roll a second time on the loot table, but this a fixed number with no other means to increase this. Venari is included as she is a perma-cat and can be modded for fetch (need a means to collect loot to be a loot frame) as well as unlocking lockers. The utility of the cat can not be ignored. She also has a grouping ability and good control
· Damage - Khora is known for her damage with whip claw so no issues here. Being a stat stick ability does mean she can adjust to the faction she is farming against, making the kill time better for looting.
· Survivability – While a little on that lacking side, she does have health regen from Venari, and spamming Whipclaw does create shield gating possibilities. However she does not have any other form of DR or the like.
· How I use - Khora is used when I want to lock down an area, sit and spam a power. Chill n’ Farm. She is the most selfish in that with a large dome, she will be the only Frame that can effectively hit all the targets.
2) Nidus with Petrify (and Augment)
A weird pick, I know. Being a subsume, it could be argued that any frame can do this, however Nidus has some unique stats that makes this builds function really well.
· Loot Ability - Ore Gaze gives a low 25% but this is scalable with power strength and Nidus is known for having and being modded for a high amount of power strength. Its is not hard to match Khora’s 65% and easily exceed that with linked to a team mate. I’ve seen in a relic mission and boosted up wards of 300% chance for extra loot. Ore Gaze also scans foes not in the codex, and this is a form of farming as well. Same as Khora, a grouping ability and good control.
· Damage - Nidus can do some nice damage with his first ability (2x when linked with his third). The more stacks the more damage he can do. Ore Gaze also shifts DR on foes by 50% (aka More damage). Armor strips can be a issue, but there are other means of dealing with that as well
· Survivability - with undying, self health regen, energy management, and 90% DR he is a hard frame to stop once he gets rolling.
· How I use – I use Nidus when I don’t know what the map looks like. He can run and gun or sit and chill. Having adaptive damage with Petrify means he is flexible for most factions.
3) Nekros
The OG farmer. The one with a native loot ability. Scalable and sustainable, and my third pick.
· Loot ability – Desecrate provides a 54% chance to do an extra roll on the foes loot table but also a 60% chance to reap a health orb. These percentages can also apply to foes that are cut if half (note not individual limbs) and in effect is 54% x2 per foe but is not increase with power strength. As Health orbs have a variety of uses (Equilibrium, Health Conversion, Arcane Pulse and Blessing) these are also very useful. Desecrate is also unique in that it is loot off a corpse, and not by kill, meaning it stacks with most loot abilities.
· Damage – depends. His once does have an instant kill threshold, but it is tricky. Second ability does armor strip but also causes foes to run away (very counter farming). But his fourth does scale the higher you go, using the stats of foes that YOU have killed. His damage comes from his weapons.
· Survivability – while his shadows does provide some aggro control, his DR does come from an augment. Sure, he has health regen per enemy killed, but nothing passive. Yet, this frame can tank like no one business when modded correctly.
· How I use – This is my most passive farm frame. Team play, solo, what ever, I just play the game and get more loot. No special builds or anything (other them maybe a Ripka stat stick)
4) Ivara, Hydroid, Atlas ETC.
I do not use these frames for looting. Ivara is just too slow and painful to do in a team setup; it is more of a nicety when running prowling around a mission. Hydroid is … well Hydroid, and plays like Khora, without the ability to kill as fast (or additional benefits), and Atlas while having the proper kill time, and survivability cannot get the same results that Nidus can from Ore Gaze. (I really tried)
So that’s it. My top looters in Warframe and how I played. I know, its pretty straight forward and no real surprise. I am sure someone is going to jump in and " mmehh.. but actually.." and throw some numbers or alphabet around to prove me wrong. I am ok with that because, the best part of writing this is that it cured my boredom.
Might go for a beer now.
