Here's the thing...
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man how to fish, feed him for an entire lifetime.
I mean sure, you can just tell someone the answer that they need. Anyone could.
But there's always the chance that:
-the info is wrong
-the info is right but fragmented
-it is right but a hotfix or patch changes it
-etc.
While it isn't rude to give an answer, it could also enforce a bad habit. If someone gets a answer here, they will be more inclined to ask than to use the wiki. Even if the info could be fragmented or wrong.
Obviously, giving wrong info is a bad thing to do. But sometimes we might not remember what the correct thing is. Maybe things were patched around, maybe person giving said info hasn't played in a while and hasn't been updated to new stuff.
Sure, your solution could very well be from the wiki. But that will still enforce the problem of "person goes to Discussion Board for answers and not wiki".
Worst case scenario, the DB will devolve into posts asking for answers much easily answered via the wiki. (aside from the usual trade posts)
If you wanna go answer all those posts when the time comes, sure. But do bear in mind that pretty much everyone has some sort of real life thing to do, such as work, school, family, etc. Meaning......there isn't always going to be someone on 24/7 to answer said posts. Which actually means that it will take longer for a post to be answered than if the wiki was used. And even then, the answer given has a chance of not even being fully correct.
Last time I checked (which is pretty often), this is the Warframe Wiki Discussion Board. Not the Warframe Wiki Answer Board.
We encourage the use of the wiki because:
-it's much faster
-always there for access
-always there to be read
-correct and accurate information
If said person is confused when using said wiki, then many of us are happy with clearing it up for them.
I've been here for almost three years. Checking this place every now and then, seen crazy arguments happen, seen attempts of reasoning this issue otherwise. I've helped people do one better by showing them how to use the wiki. Hell, I didn't even know this Discussion Board existed until months after I got this app.
I'd love to see an argument against showing people how to use the wiki.
