Ascend MR fast without mistakes

I read the wiki and understand how one may ascend the MR fast. But are there any obvious and not so obvious mistakes to avoid? Mistakes which actually slow down the points collection towards an MR test? Or is there anything that causes you to spend those points?

Not sure the wiki explains this aspect.

Those points are never spent once you earn em. They're there to stay.

The only thing that would slow you down is if you just were not leveling anything new.

(And also, if you need specific weapons built to make other weapons. That's always kinda a pain)

Ok, but doesn’t respawning cost affinity? Or something else?
