Do people literally fall for this scam?
Like some sets are two to three times the price, where as if you go on warframe.market you can get shizzle for a great price.
but thats the thing
some people don’t know about warframe.market, so they bloat their price to unsuspecting victums
Oh dear warframe market user
Have you seen switch trading chat? Everything is over blown asf
True, ppl rely on wf market too much imo, they always screech about how I'm going 5p above avg price and whatnot
Warframe market is a pretty solid foundation for trading though, you could avoid getting scammed and all with that much price references. You could even analyze dem statistics to get maximum grofit! A good place to learn where and when to invest!
Excpet I'm the one scamming yall
Warframe market isn't affiliated with DE, so you shouldn't be comparing the prices in trade chat vs the prices on Warframe market, despite it being for items in Warframe.
Warframe market isn't pulling any data direct from DE or Warframe trade chat, it's prices are listed as averages prices of trades made through that site, so looking up an item on Warframe trader won't give an accurate picture of the prices in Warframe trade chat.
To get a better understanding of what causes the differences in prices, you need to look at the different models of trade taking place.
On Warframe, most people will post what they want to buy, and then anyone watching will message them with an offer, and they accept or refuse. There is no price reference, no way to guess an items value, it's simply how much someone wants it vs how much someone thinks it's worth. But, for this to happen, it requires players to actually stop playing the game and watch trade chat to try and find a deal they like, and this is very important, because people value time, after all, your employer pays you for the time you do his bidding, because that is time you could use elsewhere.
Warframe trader works in a slightly different way.
People look over their Warframe inventory, and decide what they want to sell, then post it. They are even able to post how many of a particular item they have, as well as the price they want. There is no negotiation, so if you want a sale, it helps to look up the price of the item you are selling, and then make your post with a slightly lower price, to ensure your post is at the top of the list when people search for your items at the lowest price. The seller is then able to go away and continue to play Warframe, or even anything else they wish to do, knowing that when someone wants to buy their items, they will get a notification, and can message the buyer to arrange a time to make the trade. So they don't lose any time watching trade chat instead of doing anything else.
The seller also has the advantage of being able to think in bulk, by taking a look at how many of an item they have, and think "I have 10 of these items, each has an average value on Warframe trader 50p, if I sell them at 45p, my post will be top of the que, and I'd make 450p if I sell them all, I like that!" so they are able to undercut the Warframe trader market, knowing they will likely still make a decent amount of plat for little effort.
Ultimately though, what happens is that people will keep trying to undercut each other, and each time they do, it lowers the average price an item sells for, which in turn causes the under cutting to go further.
So overall, when you look at the prices on Warframe trader, you are actually looking at great deal prices in a market model that promotes undercutting competitive pricing, which, as in the real world, is actually only for the advantage of the big companies (in Warframe terms, those players with huge amounts of items in their inventory, most likely long time players who have 10 sets of everything from way back in the day before anything ever got vaulted)
As it's those players who will still make significant amounts of plat whilst still under cutting the current average prices
So, deals in Warframe trade chat are likely more realistic, but also likely to be more likely to be instant, and even favourable due to negotiations, compared to Warframe traders cheaper prices, but possible extra delay to arrange a time to trade, and also lacks negotiation.
Either way, you can see that the two different models of trade act in different ways, and so produce different prices, with Warframe traders model almost always producing significantly lower prices due to constant under cutting.
Also, currently, Warframe market has only 20,000 users on ps4, compared to how many millions of players playing Warframe on ps4?
